Position Summary:
The Applications Engineering position is responsible for providing technical support both remotely and in the field for the completion of the product line. This role serves as a critical link between product management, engineering, and sales with the end users of our products in the field. In addition to field installation and product support this role provides insight into enhancements that can be made to boost the value of all Malema products to our customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Understand customer specification and calculate factory equivalent for the customer parameters.
- Understand the Malema Product list and size the suitable model for the customer application.
- Create part number, BOM and routings of the new part in ERP system.
- With the help of Manufacturing team clean up the existing BOM issues in ERP.
- Release the production traveler for the new orders.
- Install and train customers to install Malemaproducts in the field.
- Provide project management support for assigned projects.
- Trouble shoot existing equipment installations remotely and in person.
- Provide both hands on and remote product /technology training to customers, end users, and internal employees.
- Provide recommendations to improve existing products' value and utilization based off end use applications.
- Assist the team in creating and communicating product and technology value propositions for customers and end users.
- Use application knowledge to assist product management and engineering in the translation of customer requirements into product specifications.
- Write and execute application-based product testing.
- Provide technical input for the creation of product support materials like manuals.
- Travel requirement: Up to 30% (primarily domestic).
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Associates ’s degree in engineering, science, or business is required. Bachelor’s Degree is preferred
- 5+ Years’ experience providing technical field support or applications engineering support to a product line
- Ability to confidently and safely use tools, such as drill, hammer, and multi-meter
- Ability to read, write and speak in English
- Computer skills are required, familiarity with windows and Microsoft office suite
- Ability to repeatedly lift and move up to 50lbs
Desired Characteristics:
- Working knowledge of mechanical and/or electronical diagrams and circuitry.
- Working knowledge of wireless protocols and equipment that interacts with web-based platforms.
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to communicate with all levels of an organization both internally and externally.
- Proven track record of successful problem-solving skills.
- Ability to assist the sales team in customer meetings by providing technical product insights to the customer.
