The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

The Position
The Senior Analyst will play a critical role in identifying, assessing, and managing operational risks across LMI. The role involves monitoring and analyzing risks related to LMI’s operations, developing mitigation strategies, and implementing controls to enhance risk resilience. The successful candidate will work closely with various internal stakeholders, including investors, operations, compliance, finance, data, product, and technology, to ensure that risk frameworks align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Responsibilities
Risk Assessment & Analysis: Identify and evaluate operational risks across the investment process, including portfolio management and analytics, trading, settlement, financial reporting and data management. Conduct regular risk assessments and monitor risk metrics, identifying emerging risks and key risk indicators (KRIs) within investment operations. Develop and implement risk analysis models to quantify and prioritize risks, supporting decision-making processes.
- Control Design & Implementation: Design and implement controls to mitigate operational risks, ensuring they are embedded effectively within investment processes. Collaborate with other teams to validate control measures, test their effectiveness, and propose improvements where necessary. Monitor adherence to established risk controls and provide recommendations for enhancing internal procedures.
- Risk Reporting & Documentation: Prepare and present risk reports, dashboards, and summaries for senior management, ensuring timely and accurate information is available for decision-making. Maintain comprehensive documentation on risk assessments, controls, and risk events, supporting regulatory and audit requirements. Communicate key risk insights and recommendations to relevant stakeholders, ensuring that they are well-informed on operational risk matters.
- Incident Management: Investigate and analyze operational risk incidents, including root cause analysis and impact assessment. Work with teams to develop and implement corrective actions and preventive measures. Track and report incidents, providing insights into trends and potential systemic issues.
- Regulatory Compliance & Audit Support: Stay up to date on regulatory changes affecting operational risk management in the investment industry. Assist in internal and external audits related to operational risk, ensuring timely and accurate responses to requests for information.
- Continuous Improvement & Best Practices: Research industry trends and emerging risks to ensure that risk management practices remain relevant and proactive. Identify opportunities for process improvements within the risk management framework and support initiatives to optimize operational efficiency. Promote risk awareness within the organization, providing training and guidance on operational risk best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 5+ years of experience in operational risk, investment risk, audit or related roles within the finance industry.
- Solid understanding of the investment process, financial markets, and investment products (e.g., fixed income, private credit, direct lending, alternatives, derivatives).
- Proficiency in risk management tools and software, as well as advanced Excel skills; familiarity with data analysis and visualization tools is a plus.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to operational risk (SEC, SOX, ERISA).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
