Leidos is seeking a Health-IT focused Solution Architect to work in Reston, VA or remote supporting our Federal Healthcare customers. Leidos designs, implements, and operates innovative Digital Health and Electronic Health Record (EHR) IT capabilities for multiple US Federal customers. Leidos is seeking candidates for our Solution Architecture team to define, implement, deploy and sustain new capabilities for our customer’s solutions.
Primary Responsibilities
- Primary focus to design and implement Military Health System (MHS) and Federal health IT solutions with a focus on interoperability with external and community providers.
- Strong knowledge of existing Defense Health Agency (DHA) and Veteran’s Administration (VA) legacy health IT solutions and workflows.
- SA will support Leidos new business and on-contract growth initiatives for our Civil and Federal Health EHR and Digital Health solutions.
- Responsibility for and leadership of Mission Software solutions and architectures through the entire engineering lifecycle for large-scale, enterprise software implementation.
- Demonstrated examples where the candidate has utilized thought-leadership and critical thinking skills to lead the design and implementation to introduce new capabilities and transitioned to operational support of existing capabilities.
- Ability to comprehend new technologies when encountered, resolve highly complex multifaceted challenges, collaborate with industry experts, and lead the delivery of innovative solutions.
- Recommend design patterns, develop detailed designs, executive briefings, data flow diagrams, and other architectural design documentation.
- Architect the integration of commercial products with custom software solutions to meet functional requirements while working within the constraints of the client’s IT and cyber infrastructure.
- Effective communication style for leading daily engagement with external and internal stakeholders to facilitate project team’s efforts and remove roadblocks.
- Work independently within a matrixed organization.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree with 12-15 or Masters with 10-13 years of prior relevant experience. Consideration will be given for years of experience without a college degree.
- Must thrive in a high-paced, sometimes ambiguous, continuously evolving environment.
- Mastery of and attention to detail, meticulous documentation skills, and follow-through on actions.
- Highly developed critical thinking skills demonstrating ability to analyze and develop alternatives which support customer objectives within schedule, budget, and resource constraints.
- Established professional network within the healthcare IT industry, solutions, and applications along with knowledge of the Garrison and Operational Medicine communities.
- Experience with software application architecture design, deployment, migration, and sustainment.
- Experience in public, hybrid, and government cloud hosting environments meeting IL-4 or higher cybersecurity requirements.
- Demonstratable experience in Basis of Estimation (BOE) creation as well as in providing leadership and technical expertise to RFI, RFP, and white paper efforts.
- Broad exposure and experience with enterprise and health IT implementations, coaching teams on Agile software methodologies (i.e.: SAFe), architecting software solutions within cloud environments (i.e.: AWS, Azure, OCI), designing Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines (Git, Nexus, Artifactory), and understanding of enterprise network design/controls.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills, with an ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms, as well as items of strategic importance to the organization/program.
- Organizational acumen, strong interpersonal skills; ability to communicate and persuade at all engineering and management levels and thrive in a cross-functional environment.
- Knowledge and experience with Project and Program management processes and knowledge in the areas of project control, Earned Value, scheduling, finance.
- US Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain ADP1/IT1 Public Trust and complete Tier 5 background investigation. Federal Government requirement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience as a Federal System Integrator delivering SaaS implementations.
- Established relationships and prior experience working with the DHA J6 organization.
- Experience with the Federal EHR architecture, infrastructure, and implementation.
- Kubernetes, Docker, and other containerization technology.
- NoSQL and SQL database technology experience (SQL Server, MySQL, Mongo, etc.).
- HashiCorp (Vault, Consul, Terraform).
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC), tools, and automation strategies to drive efficiency.
- Design of interfaces using FHIR, HL7, IHE, and other health IT standards.
- Designing solutions based on current and emerging DOD & Federal Cybersecurity and Zero Trust standards.
- Implementation experience with Identity and access management solutions.
Desired Certifications:
- Leidos Solution Architect or formal Architecture certifications.
- SAFe or other Agile and Mission Software certifications.
- Cloud Architect certifications (Amazon, Azure, OCI, GCP).

Pay Range:
Pay Range $148,850.00 - $269,075.00
