What we REQUIRE:
- A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree – pay rate dependent on level of education, credentials, and experience
- 3+ years’ experience implementing behavior intervention services with individuals with special needs
- Reliable means of transportation, valid CA driver's license, registration, and proof of insurance
- Must pass a TB test
- Must pass a criminal background check (FBI/DOJ clearance)
Job Description: Behavior Technician
The role of a Behavior Technician (BT) is to provide direct intervention services to individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and related developmental disabilities under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
Primary responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
- Implement behavior plans and skill acquisition programs plans based on applied behavior analysis (ABA) as designed by a BCBA®
- Accurately collect data as prescribed in real-time
- Collaborate with, train, and function as liaisons with outside care providers (e.g. parents, outside agency providers, etc.)
- Collect treatment fidelity data related to the implementation of behavior and skill acquisition plans
- Collect interobserver agreement data
- Present and review client progress with the BCBA®
- Implement feedback as provided in a timely manner
- Collaborate with members of clients’ clinical team as needed
- Attend meetings as needed
- Arrange environmental variables to increase client(s) motivation and decrease response effort to complete various task(s)
- Collect data and maintain client records in accordance with individualized goals
- Maintain dignity of the client while assisting with personal care which may include but is not limited to nutrition, personal hygiene, and supporting the client to look his/her best
- Present and review client progress in collaboration with a senior clinician on a regular basis via phone calls, on-site review meetings, data presentations, etc.
- Accurately complete Special Incident Reports (SIR) in a timely manner as applicable
- Utilize public transportation to get to and from various locations while accompanying client on outings in the community
- Immediately report communication from a caregiver, third-party stakeholders and/or other relevant individual(s) to the BCBA Supervisor overseeing the case
- Complete all required initial and on-going staff trainings
- Check and maintain a work schedule
- Adhere to standards for best practices as determined by legislation, industry standards, funding sources, and CABA
- Adhere to ethical practices and core values of CABA
- Fulfill all requirements to maintain a credential as a Registered Behavior Technician™(RBT®) set forth by the credentialing body (i.e., BACB®), industry standards, funding sources, and CABA standards
- Communicate information and/or issues that arise in a timely manner in accordance with appropriate CABA policy
- Complete other clinical and administrative activities assigned at the discretion of CABA
Physical Requirements:
- Willingness and health status to permit working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Strength and stamina to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds, walk stand, stoop, and kneel for extended periods of time
- Physical capacity to safely push individuals in wheelchairs on a variety of terrain and support individuals with other mobility needs as required
- Passes a Physical Abilities Test
