Capital Women's Care provides total women's healthcare at the highest medical and ethical standards. This is a great opportunity to join one of the best OB/GYN practices in the area and a dynamic team. Capital Women's Care is a 150+ group of OB/GYNs located throughout Greater Washington, DC, Northern Virginia and Maryland. We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to provide clinical and administrative support to our OB/GYN physicians and clinical staff. This person will also need to display empathy and professionalism towards patients.
Responsibilities
· Responsible for verifying patient information by interviewing patients, recording medical history; confirming purpose of visit.
· Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; reporting patient history summary.
· Responsible for collecting and preparing laboratory specimens, giving patients injections and drawing blood.
· Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding electronic and paper medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; keeping patient information confidential.
· Informs patients by transmitting physician's orders and questions about surgery.
· Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.
· Assist with sterilizing equipment / maintain proper working knowledge of the Autoclave.
Requirements
· High school diploma or GED required.
· Medical Assistant Certification
· 2 years of medical assistant experience.
· At least 1 year of GYN experience.
· Strong knowledge of medical terminology.
· Knowledge of patient care techniques, administering injections, drawing blood, taking vitals and performing basic lab tests.
· Knowledge of sterilization processes.
· Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
· Customer service skills in handling patient questions and concerns with professionalism, empathy and patience.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to handle unexpected situations calmly and problem-solving patient concerns or conflicts.
· Ability to collaborate in a team environment.
