Position Overview
We are looking for a Senior Track Design Engineer that will apply engineering fundamentals for technical support of our rail transit design engineering team. You’ll have the opportunity to manage design of track and trackwork components on a variety of exciting large rail projects across North America. In this position you will be supporting various aspects of rail transit design, and engineering services on both design-build and progressive design build projects.

Location
This position is based out of Salt Lake, UT. Typically requires up to 25 percent travel or as business / project necessitates.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership across technical disciplines.
- Serve as Discipline or Task Lead for railroad or civil engineering design projects
- Lead or participate in marketing and contracting activities.
- Manage scope, budget, and schedule, as well as development of design criteria, specifications, project guides, project meeting notes, and cost estimating activities
- Take responsibility for project involvement, ranging from site feasibility analysis to final design and through the construction phase
- Attend industry events and represent Kiewit as needed.
- Mentor younger staff and support technical development.
- Supervise junior staff in performance of engineering tasks.
- Periodic travel for client visits, site visits, field assessments and construction inspections, as needed
- Work across industries with rail, industrial, terminal, utility, agency, DOT, port, transit, and other industry clients.
- Perform other duties as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering.
- 15+ years experience in track design and railroad engineering.
- PE required
- A strong work ethic, excellent attention to detail, and eagerness to learn.
- A team player and be able to work independently.
- Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
- Travel as business necessitates
