As a Linux System Engineer, you’ll help build a meaningful engineering discipline, combining software and systems to develop creative engineering solutions to operations problems. Much of our support and software development focuses on optimizing existing systems, building infrastructure, and reducing work through automation. You’ll join a team of curious problem solvers with a diverse set of perspectives who are thinking big and taking risks within the Compute Product Solutions domain. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the smooth functioning of Linux platforms.
The Role:
In this position you will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, and successful operation of technologies within the Compute Product Solutions domain. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the smooth functioning of cloud platforms and related systems.
You will follow established installation guidelines, configure technologies to meet specific requirements, and deliver results within business timelines. Additionally, you will monitor systems, perform maintenance tasks, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions to ensure ongoing operational efficiency. As a technical resource, you will contribute to innovation projects, while occasionally providing operational support.
We are seeking candidates with broad knowledge of technologies in the Unix / Linux domain, including a solid understanding of general IT concepts and how technologies interact. Your ability to leverage available resources to solve problems is essential. While limited knowledge of peripheral domains is also desirable, proficiency in Linux and experience with improving dashboarding and leveraging automation technologies will be highly valued.
If you have a background in scripting languages such as Python, Ruby, or Bash, or familiarity with automation platforms such as Ansible or Chef, along with a dynamic and collaborative approach to teamwork, we encourage you to apply. What You'll Do (Responsibilities):
- Write and maintain scripts, applications, or automation jobs to monitor system activity and performance of the Cloud Platform and related systems which help reduce toil and drive improved efficiencies.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues affecting the functionality and performance of cloud platforms.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including updates, patches, and backups.
- Implement and configure cloud platform technologies within the assigned domain, adhering to standard installation recommendations.
- Serve as a technical resource on assigned projects, providing expertise and guidance and ensure successful delivery of on-time projects.
- Stay updated with emerging trends and technologies in cloud computing and site reliability engineering.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of operational processes and procedures.
