Job Summary:
Our Instructional System Designer (ISD) position brings focus to the training development discipline and ensures all content is properly evaluated, developed, and delivered. The ISD has responsibilities to develop and maintain Thermo King technical and non-technical training content. This includes Instructor Led, eLearning, web-based, virtual, video, and digital training content. This ISD will function as a project manager and partner with subject matter experts, business functional leaders, Thermo King Dealers and the Education Center staff to analyze learning needs to ensure training content & curriculum is created and delivered properly to meet learner and business needs.
Core Duties and Responsibilities (others may be added):
- Analyze, design and develop technical and non-technical training content that help Thermo King’s Dealers, employees and customers meet and exceed performance requirements and business goals using instructional design methodology (i.e. ADDIE/Agile/Other).
- Design and develop innovative, engaging and effective learning content, course materials, job aids and reference materials using adult learning methodologies.
- Acquire and apply new technology skills to instructional design practice.
- Assists in evaluation and updating of all training content.
- Builds and manages working relationships with internal and external SME’s and vendors to cost effectively implement development projects as assigned.
- Perform back up support for Training Administrator as needed (duties include customer facing communication, LMS management and other duties as required).
- Project management is an important element of curriculum development and to this position.
- Associated & required project management activities include following:
- Develop and maintain Project Plans to include development, SME review & approval processes & implementation.
- Create & maintain documentation to define the scope of development projects including deliverables, the resources required to accomplish each phase of the project (including personnel and costs), and adherence to the project schedule.
- Continuously assess & improve, online & blended learning training program solutions to ensure program effectiveness.
- Provide expertise & staff development training to instructional staff on eLearning instructional design.
- Promote knowledge sharing within the company; evaluate Web, eLearning, Blended Learning and digital curriculum content effectiveness using metrics / data driven Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) methodology.
Minimum Requirements:
- At least 7 years’ experience in Instructional Systems Design or work in a related field.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Instructional Design or related field.
- Strong content creator, experienced in crafting various types of training content (eLearning, storyboards, videos, offline activities, reference guides, etc.).
- Ability to communicate with and understand highly technical subject matter experts and translate material into training curriculum for less technical learners.
- Must be a team player who interacts effectively.
- Must be flexible and adaptable to changing demands and priorities.
- Up to 10% travel may be required.
- Must be self-sufficient and a self-starter who requires minimal direction with the ability to learn and comprehend new and complex systems and software packages.
- Working knowledge and experience with the following software:
- Adobe Acrobat DC
- Adobe Premiere Pro
- Articulate Storyline 360 and Rise
- Audacity Audio Editor
- Microsoft Office 365 Suite
- Learning Management Systems
Additional Skills Preferred:
- Knowledge/familiarity of Thermo King Products and Dealer network operations.
- Knowledge of Thermo King Certi-Tech and TRECS training certification programs.
- Ability to articulate and present ideas in a clear, concise, and logical manner.
- Ability to communicate effectively within all levels of an organization from Individual Contributors to Executive Leadership.
- Ability to build successful internal and external employee and vendor relationships.
- Ability to innovate and provide creative training solutions using both existing and newly acquired development tools and methodologies.
