Job Summary:
We are hiring an R&D Electrical Engineering Technician in Minneapolis, MN! This position will be supporting assembly and test activities of Thermo King Products within our Engineering Lab. Attention to detail, self-motivated and a strong mechanical/electrical knowledge of troubleshooting are key attributes a successful candidate must possess. This role will utilize computer systems to aid in performing the work, so familiarity with basic computer programs (Excel, Word and Outlook) are required. Prior knowledge of refrigeration equipment or HVAC repairs is preferred, but not required.
Responsibilities:
- Review engineering drawings and redline any errors found and relaying this information back to engineering.
- Assist with the design, routing, and building of electrical harnesses.
- Collaborate with others on engineering projects, designs, and process improvements.
- Install wiring harnesses into new product designs and provide feedback to engineering about design improvements.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems and make repairs on both low (50 volt or less) and high voltage (over 50 volts) systems.
- Understanding of electrical circuits and controls to be able to assist engineering with design input.
- Deliver high quality and timely results.
- Increase technical skills/knowledge of TK products/processes.
- Identify both short-term and long-term corrective actions to address safety issues.
- Identify opportunities to drive continuous improvement within current lab processes.
- Seek opportunities to take lead on department project(s)/initiative(s).
Qualifications:
This role requires three or more years of relevant industry experience or an Electrical Engineering Technology degree.
Key Competencies:
- Knowledge of electrical circuits, controls, and components.
- Mechanical aptitude to diagnose and repair refrigeration units.
- Innovative coming up with ideas to assist engineering with design improvements, component layout and wire harness routing.
- Ability to use computer programs such as: Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Basic knowledge of NEC code is preferred, but not required
