Job Summary:
Trane Technologies is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer for the Trane plant in Trenton, NJ. In this role, you will coordinate, organize and supervise production process methods and engineering activities that enable production. This includes sustaining engineering, new product launch processes and continuous improvement activities. The position is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining production processes to drive quality and efficiency and to develop manufacturing plans which improve operations competitiveness.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and define concepts and manufacturing processes for, and as an integral part of, new product introductions and product enhancement programs, using advanced engineering techniques such as DFM / DFA (Design for Manufacturability and Assembly), FMEA, 3P (Production, Preparation Process), 7-Ways, and Lean Six Sigma Methodology
- Drives engineering principles and discipline through mentoring, training and project reviews including: PFMEA, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Dynamic Control Plans (DCP), Lean Tools, Project Management and Simultaneous Engineering
- Manages, develops and improves manufacturing standards including: machine capability, process maps, set-ups, quality controls, tooling and fixture records, routings and cycle times.
- Design, develop, and implement process automation (hardware & software) to improve productivity, quality, equipment performance, energy consumption, and downtime reduction.
- Evaluate and implement innovative, cost effective, safe, manufacturing processes and techniques which will improve the effectiveness of the manufacturing operations and business systems
- Develop and implement manufacturing flow lines, work station layouts and organization, and station controls, which optimize value added operations, operating costs, and product / process quality
- Integrate closely with various functional team members collaborating while enhancing design for manufacturability and ease of integration to manufacturing facility.
- Provide technical expertise and leadership for the timely resolution of manufacturing process and product design problems. Serve as a resource for cause / effect analyses, investigations, statistical studies, and corrective action planning
- Ensures all equipment meets OSHA compliant safety regulations
Qualifications:
- BS Engineering or Engineering Technologies degree required
- 3+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment required; 5 - 7 years preferred
- Demonstrated analytical and problem solving abilities to quickly determine root cause using Lean Tools is preferred.
- Aptitude for mechanical/electrical application as related to equipment/processes.
- Robotics and PLC experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques and ability to create standard work.
- Excellent communication and people skills.
- PC Skills including MS Office, Excel, Word, Power Point required.
- Microsoft Project and AutoCad experience preferred.
