Job Responsibilities:
The account engineer has the deep technical expertise of an Energy Engineer and the interpersonal skills of an Account Manager. He or she is an expert at converting data into actionable insight and utilizing that data to deliver results for the client becoming a trusted advisor. Duties include routine on-going consultative services that help our clients continuously optimize their facilities and fulfill their mission more efficiently. Routine consultations provide insights into the client’s energy use, building operations, technical support/training needs, indoor environmental quality, asset management, and anything else that provides value to the client. Beyond the development and delivery of consultation reports, the Intelligent Services Account Engineer is responsible for energy project development, retro-commissioning, design assistance, walkthroughs, and continuously assisting the sales teams with securing a larger share of assigned clients’ business, earning them as customers for life. Success in this role is measured by assigned accounts’ energy reductions delivered to clients, and the amount of pull-through business delivered to Trane.
Key Result: Intelligent Services Consultation Development and Delivery
Key Actions:
- Facilitate the development and delivery of Intelligent Services consultation reports in a timely and professional manner
- Researches facilities energy usage and provides interpretation of utility bills to clients
- Monitors and analyzes energy consumption and costs; develops recommendations for facility improvements, energy consumption, and conservation including performance against standards and benchmarks
- Maintain profitability of client relationships (contracts)
Key Result: Sales Support
Key Actions:
- Maintains position as the customer’s most trusted advisor
- Actively participates in strategic account planning and leader to leader meetings
- Presents compelling technical business case presentations for comprehensive projects as required
- Leads sales process when appropriate
- Generates numerous leads for assigned accounts, especially Energy Services and Controls
- Helps the sales team to quality and quickly close or abandon opportunities
- Fully understands Trane’s energy solutions and is able to present products and solutions depending on customer business
- Broad knowledge of commercially available energy solutions and technology
- Support sales team in the acquisition of new Intelligent Services clients
- Participate in high level walkthroughs and facility assessments
Key Result: Engineering / Project Development
Key Actions:
- Leads the technical analysis of facilities and their usage to determine creative solutions and savings opportunities
- Identifies, develops, estimates, and proposes Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs)
- Leads concept development associated with various engineering projects
- Conducts field survey work as needed to assess new opportunities and develop various projects
- Coordinate technical solutions with external partners as needed
- Assists with initial opportunity assessments for guaranteed energy savings projects, when needed
Qualifications / Requirements:
- 7-9 years experience, preferred
- Design and application knowledge of facility HVAC, control, lighting and electrical systems
- Four year electrical or Mechanical Engineering / Design degree, preferred
- Certified Energy Manager, preferred
- Experience with building automation and control systems preferred
- Must have strong communication skills and ability to work with internal and external teams
- Must have strong business acumen skills and able to provide financial analysis to customer
- Must have a good understanding of technical proficiencies required to deliver solutions
- Must have the aptitude to learn new industry related material/practices for continued growth
Physical Requirements:
- The majority of a regular workday requires sitting.
- Frequent standing and walking.
- Excellent speaking, hearing as well as good vision.
- May be required to climb ladders, carry/ lift 10lbs.
Working Conditions:
- This position works in a typical office environment.
- Various customer facilities, spending time in Mechanical / Equipment rooms, surveying rooftop equipment and so on.

- Valid driver’s license
- Provide proof of personnel auto insurance
- Must have reliable personnel vehicle
- Flexibility to work overtime / weekends as required
