We are seeking a Risk and Compliance Analyst with IT Operations domain experience in Incident Management, Problem Management, Service Desk, IT Asset Management, Service Configuration Management, Data Center Management, Component Capacity Management, Availability Management, Infrastructure and Platform Management, Monitoring and Event Management
This role involves providing independent oversight and guidance within a risk and compliance framework, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and USAA’s policies. The ideal candidate will effectively challenge and support the execution of business products, services, and processes. Candidates must have at least 4 years of validated experience in the financial services or insurance industry, or specialized technical fields directly related to the role.
We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, or Charlotte, NC. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
The Opportunity
What you'll do:
- Partners with key team members in the business to identify, assess, aggregate and detail operational and compliance risks and controls, including operational and compliance risks associated with new or modified products, services, distribution channels, laws, regulations, and third-party operations.
- Applies maturing knowledge of the business, its products, and processes, to identify, work, and raise operational risk and compliance issues.
- Supports implementation of new risk and compliance policies, practices, appetites, and solutions to ensure comprehensive understanding and management of risks according to industry standard process.
- Executes assigned risk or compliance activities in accordance with enterprise policies and procedures.
- Gathers information, analyzes data trends, and produces analytical material for discussions with cross functional teams to understand business objectives and influence solution strategies.
- Maintains and expands knowledge of the competitive/regulatory landscape and the company's key challenges. Reviews laws and regulations for business impact and makes proposals for awareness and action.
- Support response to regulatory requirements and requests ensuring the execution of examination requests.
- Support work on risk and compliance processes that focus on enhancing strategies, tools, and methodologies to measure, monitor, and report risks.
- Actively contributes in cross-functional teams to identify, assess, aggregate, and mitigate current and emerging risk events.
What you have:
- Bachelor’s degree or 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
- 4 years relevant experience in risk, compliance, legal or audit within the financial services or insurance industry or specialized technical fields directly related to the role.
- Risk and/or compliance experience in a highly matrixed environment.
- Knowledge of compliance laws, regulations, and regulatory expectations.
- Demonstrated ability to apply regulatory risk and compliance knowledge to consult and provide guidance.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively challenge in business or team settings.
- Ability to effectively work with internal and external partners in a highly collaborative environment.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and knowledge of data analysis tools and techniques and decision-making abilities to effectively recommend data-driven solutions.
- Proactively identifies potential concerns and effectively recommends solutions.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
What sets you apart:
- US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner.
- Experience producing compliance and risk reporting and trending to various partners.
- Risk and Compliance industry certifications or other relevant designations (e.g., CISA, CRISC, CISM, CISSP, ITIL, Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and ITIL 4 Foundations).
- Understanding of relevant risk management frameworks such as NIST, ITIL, COBIT, and FFIEC, etc.
- Experience in second line of defense, third line of defense, or other risk management oversight function performing reviews of IT Operations domains.

What we offer:
Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $85,040 - $162,550.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
