Summary Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and data driven Business Data Analyst to join our market intelligence and strategic pricing team. In this role, you will combine critical thinking, problem-solving, and technical expertise to transform raw data into measurable and actionable outputs and reports that inform business decisions and drive growth across all Dover Food Retail (DFR) business segments.
Key aspects include data collection & cleaning, exploratory analysis to identify patterns and trends, advanced analytics, insight generation and reporting, pricing analysis, customer/competitor research, support for key portfolio improvement initiatives, forecasting, working in close collaboration with product management, sales, finance and marketing across the DFR business units, and adhering to ethical data practices and proper data management procedures.

Objectives of this Role

Develop, implement, and maintain leading-edge analytics systems, taking complicated problems and building simple frameworks to support business growth

Evaluate internal systems for efficiency, problems, and inaccuracies, and develop and maintain protocols for handling, processing, and cleaning data
Responsibilities include but not limited to

Proactively analyze data to answer key questions for stakeholders or yourself, with an eye on what drives business performance, and investigate and communicate which areas need improvement in efficiency and productivity

Creatively working within existing organizational structures and technology stack to ensure most advantageous strategies to leverage database mapping, storage, scripts, and various sources of data are working together in the most seamless manner to ensure business decisions that will drive future growth.

Work closely with management to understand and maintain focus on analytics needs, including critical metrics and KPIs, and deliver actionable insights to relevant decision-makers that may include creating easy to use Power BI dashboards or other tools

Ensure a deep understanding of strategies and business health of top 100 food retailers, competitors, and key suppliers to the market that include a view into specific equipment being purchased by each retailer with regular reporting and updates to various business stakeholders.

Ability to take in new or existing raw data that may include a multitude of raw data points, apply data cleansing rules, organize and store for future growth, and generate quick and value-based reporting that drive business growth through a higher percentage of wins.

Create and maintain rich interactive visualizations through data collection, cleaning, interpretation and analysis, with reporting components from multiple data sources and make recommended improvements that better communicate the “data story”.

Build robust cross functional relationships with internal and external stakeholders that promote effective intelligence sharing on various risk factors that include cost drivers, management changes, new products, price increases, and any other factors that may impact DFR business units.
Required Skills / Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in data science, mathematics/statistics, computer science, or related field.

1+ years of experience in Excel, including pivot tables and advanced formulas (e.g., lookup, indexing, etc.)
Preferred skills

Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex data concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Includes technical writing in areas such as queries, reports, and presentations.

Knowledge of standard financial metrics (e.g., operating margin, cash conversion, working capital) and how to improve performance against those metrics
