Workplace Classification:

The Team:
VMEC (Vehicle Mechatronics Embedded Controls) is a production level group that supports the definition, design, and development of all embedded controllers that impact vehicle motion. VMEC group comprised of inclusive and diverse Agile teams, where everyone has a voice in the conversation.
The Role:
In this role, you will directly impact the GM vehicles that drive down the road as well as new market opportunities! We are seeking creative, highly motivated, agile thinkers with passion and expertise in Controls and Software with great attention to detail. The selected candidate will develop controls and diagnostics collaborating with scrum teams and using appropriate common methods for VMEC features to support the growth capability of controls and diagnostic methods and to keep General Motors at the forefront of technology.
What You’ll do:

Develop and implement control and diagnostic algorithms for various vehicle features and systems in Brake controls using either Model Based coding (MATLAB) or C/C++.

Help define calibration strategies and promote hand code practices in controls and SW implementation.

Ensure compliance to safety and government regulations while developing GM internal best practices.

Strong ability to interpret system requirements and translate it control and SW strategies.

Design and manage key strategic interfaces within systems to enable component reuse and consistency to standard methodologies.

Provide support to other specialists for root cause analysis.

Define software unit tests, HIL (Hardware in the loop), and vehicle tests from customer’s expectations and system requirements.

Meet higher level physics-based requirements with efficient designs using modeling, simulation, data collection, and analysis.

Support resolution of vehicle, plant, or customer issues related to controls and calibration

Help build tools, libraries, and training material to enable capability growth and support learning of the team.

Collaborate with other teams to define and integrate components, check functionality on the bench and in the vehicle.

Strong ability to expertly capture and analyze empirical data to verify system performance.

Participate in the relevant Team and Program Events: Program Increment Planning, DSU (Daily Stand Up), Iteration Reviews, ART Inspection and Adapt sessions etc.

Works cross-functionally with System Engineers, Software Engineers, Feature/Function Engineers, Calibrators, Scrum Manager/Scrum Leader to ensure robust design.

Mentor new employees to help increase capabilities and share knowledge.
