Workplace Classification:

The Team:
VMEC (Vehicle Mechatronics Embedded Controls) is a production level group that supports the definition, design, and development of all embedded controllers that impact vehicle motion. VMEC group comprised of inclusive and diverse Agile teams, where everyone has a voice in the conversation.
The Role:
In this role, you will directly impact the GM vehicles that drive down the road as well as new market opportunities! We are seeking creative, highly motivated, agile thinkers with passion and expertise in Controls and Software with great attention to detail. The selected candidate will develop controls and diagnostics collaborating with scrum teams and using appropriate common methods for VMEC features to support the growth capability of controls and diagnostic methods and to keep General Motors at the forefront of technology.
What You’ll do:

Develop robust algorithms for various vehicle features and systems in Brake and Chassis controls.

Works cross-functionally with Software Engineers, Feature/Function Engineers, Calibrators, Scrum Manager/Scrum Leader to ensure robust design.

Collaborate with Systems Engineers to define vehicle, sub-system, and behavioral requirements.

Develop and document requirements required to design an automotive system.

Design and manage key strategic interfaces within systems to enable component reuse and consistency to standard methodologies.

Collaborate with other teams to define and integrate components, check functionality on the bench and in the vehicle.

Provide support to other specialists for root cause analysis.

Support software unit tests, HIL (Hardware in the loop), and vehicle tests from customer’s expectations and system requirements.

Strong ability to expertly capture and analyze empirical data to verify system performance.

Continually push technology to lead and define the new state of art for control and system simulation.

Identify and document system vulnerabilities and craft mitigation action plans; track corrective actions.

Support resolution of vehicle, plant, or customer issues related to controls and calibration.

Collaborate with other teams to define and integrate components, check functionality on the bench and in the vehicle.

Participate in the relevant Team and Program Events: Program Increment Planning, DSU (Daily Stand Up), Iteration Reviews, ART Inspection and Adapt sessions etc.
