What You'll Do
- Build and lead a team that will contribute to our next generation vehicle operating while supporting and optimizing our existing platforms.
- Lead an engineering team building software with quality and predictability.
- Collaborate closely with hardware engineers and partner teams.
- Develop and enhance processes for building quality software.
- Collaborate across the organization to identify dependencies and needs.
- Build an effective engineering team, continually growing the skills of team members and recruiting talent to ensure we have domain specific knowledge.
- Leads, guides and directs a large group of technical employees responsible for engineering deliverables in support of the organization's business objectives.
- Manages engineering execution of team as related to the Vehicle Development Process deliverables.
- Provides technical leadership to work team. Interacts and collaborates with many teams cross-functionally.
- Leads team on new methods or initiatives without defined procedures, to meet targets.
- Reviews and approves engineering documentation, e.g. requirements, documents.
- Hiring: Identifies & leads staffing initiatives for work team.
- Communicating: Conducts regularly scheduled Group Meetings, Communicates GM Policies & Procedures, Leadership and Safety Messages. Creates and communicates vision & strategies specific to functional responsibilities. May include preparing and giving presentations.
- Training & Developing: Insures employees complete all mandatory GM training and any specific training related to functional responsibility. Understands & supports employee's career development goals. Develops and executes initiatives to improve work team capability and increase work team capacity.
- Assigning Work: Assigns and manages workload for direct reports. Sets individual employee and group priorities.
- Monitoring & Approving GM Records: Reviews and approves employee work and overtime schedules, expenses, and other work-related data.
- Evaluating Performance and Behaviors: Reviews deliverables and provides candid & constructive feedback. Conducts performance interventions when necessary.
- Recognition: Formally & informally recognizes employee's contributions. Provides timely and consistent feedback to direct employee's as appropriate. Participates in compensation planning and administers compensation treatment.
- Removing Roadblocks & Resolving Issues/Complaints: Observes and steps up to remove roadblocks and resolve potential issues.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
