Under the general supervision of Information Technology Supervisor II, the Information Technology Associate is a member of the Enterprise Content Management Development Team and has the primary responsibility of performing software development tasks that includes maintenance of existing systems and the development of new enterprise software applications. This means being involved in every step of the Software Development Life Cycle as part of a team or individually, including participating in requirements elicitation, database design, system architecture, software design, systems integration and software quality testing. The incumbent will apply software engineering techniques and best practices, including but not limited to object oriented design, software security, documentation and relational database design concepts, to develop enterprise solutions using modern platforms and frameworks that will best serve the business needs.
The ITA must have the ability to apply basic analytical techniques, effective written and oral communication, strong organizational skills, basic knowledge of systems design and integration, and keeps abreast of new technologies and software development techniques and practices. The incumbent may be asked to work independently or with a team as appropriate and is expected to report on and complete assignments on a timely
and efficient manner. Participation in all project and staff meetings is a must. This position requires the incumbent to maintain acceptable, consistent and regular attendance and adhere to departmental policies and procedures regarding attendance, leave, and conduct; and must be regularly available and willing to work the hours the Department determines are necessary to meet its business needs. This means being required to occasionally work on non-regular business hours or weekends.

The incumbent will be assigned a cubicle located on the 4th floor of the Elihu Harris State Building located in Oakland. The location has elevator access and is fully air conditioned with natural and artificial lighting. The position may require occasional 24/7 on-call duties on an as needed basis. Occasional telecommuting will be allowed under certain circumstance or as job duties dictate. Most times, the incumbent will be working in front of a computer. Being in a stationary position for long periods of time. A laptop pc will be provided that can be brought home by the incumbent as necessary.
