Description:
Position Summary:
The Plumbing Service Technician is responsible diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining residential plumbing systems while ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction. This role involves performing more advanced plumbing tasks, including pipe installations, water heater repairs, and leak detection. The technician must work independently, provide guidance to junior technicians, and uphold company safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain a professional appearance, attitude, and strong work ethic.
- Arrive at job sites on time and report to dispatch upon arrival and departure.
- Operate company vehicles safely and follow all traffic laws.
- Diagnose and repair common residential plumbing issues, including leaks, water pressure problems, and pipe damages.
- Perform installations and repairs on toilets, faucets, sinks, garbage disposals, water heaters, and other plumbing fixtures.
- Conduct maintenance inspections and preventative services on plumbing systems.
- Install and repair water and waste systems, ensuring compliance with plumbing codes.
- Work with various piping materials, including PEX, PVC, CPVC, copper, and cast iron.
- Perform soldering, brazing, and pipe joining techniques as needed.
- Detect and repair slab leaks and other concealed plumbing issues.
- Use diagnostic tools and equipment, such as leak detectors, pressure gauges, and video inspection cameras.
- Educate customers on maintenance and potential upgrades for their plumbing systems.
- Accurately complete job-related paperwork, including service reports and invoices.
- Maintain an organized and fully stocked work truck.
- Assist in training and mentoring entry-level technicians.
- Adhere to all company safety standards and industry regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum 2-4 years of residential plumbing experience
- Must pass drug and background screening.
- Valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record.
- Strong communication skills in English (both written and verbal).
- Ability to safely operate plumbing tools and equipment
- Understanding of plumbing codes and industry best practices
Physical Requirements:
- Work in an environment consisting of extreme variations due to conditions, including but not limited to: heat, cold, wet, wind, sunlight, absence of light, insects, animals, mammals, reptiles and other conditions deemed by worksite
- Reaching, bending, stooping, walking, sitting, crawling, squatting
- Holding, carrying objects, and lifting – including heavy objects such as equipment up to 100 pounds
- Use of tools and equipment such as hand tools and ladders including extension ladders
- Use of vision abilities include, close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus
- Must be able to speak and hear
- Must be able to work in small or confined workspaces
