JOB DESCRIPTION

Title:

Human Systems Integrator (Supporting NASA at Johnson Space Center)

Belong. Connect. Grow. with KBR!

Around here, we define the future.

We are a company of innovators, thinkers, creators, explorers, volunteers, and dreamers. But we all share one goal: to improve the world responsibly and safely.

This position will support the Human Health and Performance Directorate and the Health and Medical Technical Authority (HMTA) at NASA/JSC. The position will be part of a team of integrators and subject matter experts (SMEs) who work together to ensure NASA human spaceflight programs adequately incorporate and implement NASA HMTA standards from NASA-STD-3001 into vehicle design. The Artemis Cross-Program Integrator will obtain and maintain technical knowledge across all human health and performance disciplines and engage SMEs for the details. HHP disciplines include crew health, environmental factors, medical operations, physiology, anthropometry, strength and biomechanics, maintenance and housekeeping, safety, habitability and architecture, information management, and displays and controls.  The position will participate in designated meetings and working groups as a mechanism for monitoring the incorporation of HHP design consideration in vehicle design. The Human Systems Integrator will monitor how well HMTA requirements are met, ensure that issues of unmet or under met requirements are documented, communicate the status of these issues to the HMTA/HHP team, and prepare materials for communicating awareness or escalating issues as needed. The position will interface with HMTA and HHP NASA management as well as with Program personnel.  Lessons learned while providing support to Human Spaceflight Programs are leveraged to improve HMTA standards and strategic processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as Human Systems Integrator.
  • Participate in designated meetings as the HMTA/HHP representative.  This includes proactively screening agendas in order to engage appropriate HHP representatives and/or SMEs as needed, taking notes during meetings, and communicating relevant information to the HMTA/HHP team.
  • Coordinate with HMTA, HHP Management and HHP technical Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
  • Coordinate with NASA Program Requirement Owners.
  • Provide insight to Program compliance with HMTA mandatory standards as well as inform HMTA decisions
  • Coordinate and participate in Program document and design reviews, develop corresponding summary assessments, and follow up on resulting actions.
  • Develop requirements mapping from HMTA standards to Program documents and corresponding gap analysis.
  • Review and assess integrated test and analysis activities; formulate, summarize, and represent an HMTA position based on subject matter expertise for Program reviews.
  • Develop position papers, presentations, and/or requirements interpretations for HMTA issues.
  • Participate in HMTA meetings, NASA Human Spaceflight Program meetings, HH&P meetings, and internal team meetings; develop and deliver presentations as necessary.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • REQUIRED: The candidate must have a bachelor's degree in systems engineering, biomedical engineering, industrial engineering, biomedical science, or closely related field and 0 to 5 years’ experience (or MS and 3 years’ experience).
  • DESIRED:  Demonstrated experience in human systems integration and/or in collaborating with multi-disciplined teams is desired. Experience with human systems requirements/verification in human spaceflight vehicle design and/or with NASA Technical Authority, as well as experience in NASA spaceflight operations is desired.

SKILLS/TRAINING

  • REQUIRED: The candidate shall have demonstrated the ability to work independently and shall possess strong verbal and written communication skills including delivering presentations and writing reports. Verbal skills also include the capability to speak up in Program meetings. The candidate shall also have the capability to listen to Subject Matter Experts (SME), and to understand enough to represent their expertise, but not to serve as the expert to the exclusion of the SME. Ability to work in Microsoft Office's suite of tools, especially Excel, is required.
  • DESIRED: Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., NASA-STD-3001) and human space flight is desired. Candidate should have the ability to effectively interact with customers at all levels.
