General Summary
The Financial Systems Analyst, under the leadership of the Senior Director of Financial Impact, combines financial analysis, reporting, and business systems analysis to support solutions for Finance and Administration, as well as management reporting for the business. The role is responsible for selection, implementation, maintenance, review, and optimization of financial systems addressing operational, financial, and other analytical reporting requirements. The Financial Systems Analyst builds analysis and reporting models and conducts analysis using analysis and modeling techniques to support institutional processes and promote organizational improvement, providing management with insights concerning financial performance, business operating and strategic plans, and significant financial management issues. The Financial Systems Analyst also provides staff training on the use of financial systems and functions as a liaison to the IT department.

Work Location
The position will be based in the Chicagoland area at the GTI Energy Headquarters. We offer a hybrid/core work week, where employees are remote Mondays and Fridays, and required to be on-site Tuesday through Thursday.
Primary Responsibilities
- Financial System Evaluation, Selection, Implementation, Optimization
- Improve the financial performance of the organization by maximizing the efficiency and effectiveness of its financial systems. Responsible for the improvement and operation of financial systems connected to the collection, retrieval, accessibility, and use of financial data to facilitate planning and activities.
- Understand and document business requirements for financial systems.
- Conduct assessment of software and hardware needs and identify new or modified systems to meet changing demands, in collaboration with IT.
- Explain the benefits, risks and potential returns of investments and make recommendations.
- Maintenance and Improvement of financial software systems
- Assist in the ongoing improvement and effective use of financial system applications.
- Configure system settings and options, as well as create specifications for systems to meet financial requirements.
- Analyze and troubleshoot financial system issues and functionality.
- Maintain database files and tables and import/ export data files from the system as needed.
- Monitor system performance and recommend changes as needed.
- Financial Analysis and Reporting
- Develop custom reports to meet the requirements of finance management and staff.
- Generate financial reports that aid management in making strategic decisions.
- Contribute to financial forecasting and budgeting processes.
- Design and implement automated forecasts, budgets, reports, and dashboards.
- Use automated systems in the analysis of financial problems.: Analyze business and financial data and create models for decision support.
- Improve financial status by analyzing results, monitoring variances, identifying trends, and recommending actions to management.
- Coordinate with other members of the finance team to review financial information and forecasts.
- System Support, Training, and Documentation
- Provide leadership to cross-functional teams in addressing financial or systems issues.
- Develop and implement financial system training programs for staff.
- Provide expert knowledge to users in the area of automated financial systems.
- Provide technical advice and support to users of financial systems.
- Work with other departments to integrate financial systems with other business operations.
- Maintain documentation for financial systems processes and procedures.
- Support system upgrades and perform testing to ensure the functionality of the financial systems.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics
- Advanced computer skills, including expertise in Microsoft Excel using advanced formulas, pivots, charts, and graphs and VBA scripting; SQL Server 2017, including SQL Packages; creating queries, stored procedures, data imports and database optimization; and knowledge using Microsoft Visual Studio/SSRS.
- Proficient with finance-specific software including data analysis and automation tools and various accounting and financial planning & analysis software products along with common office platforms.
- Technical aptitude to manage financial databases, use financial software applications and perform system improvements.
- Broad knowledge of techniques in collecting data, analyzing information, generating reports, programming, and SQL Server.
- Working knowledge of automation/programming and expertise in managing data in relational databases, and the application of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau).
- Ability to create automated reports and self-service tools, as well as use business intelligence tools.
- Strong analytical mindset: able to analyze complex business and financial data and transform it into usable information. Ability to analyze information to identify trends and patterns and to determine meaningful conclusions.
- Ability to quickly develop a solid understanding of the business as a whole in order to provide meaningful insights. Open to learning processes and can translate that knowledge to IT teams.
- Strong understanding of finance and accounting principles, business operations, and financial software systems and databases, along with excellent analytical abilities.
- Ability to identify problems or gaps in the financial systems, solve problems in a creative manner, and implement opportunities for improvement.
- Ability to design and implement complex modeling tools to improve the financial performance of the organization.
- Problem-solving skills to identify and address issues within the financial system, aiming to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Education and Experience
- BA or BS in finance, accounting, economics, statistics, computer science or a related field.
- Three to five years’ experience evaluating, implementing, and optimizing finance and accounting systems.
- Three to five years financial planning & analysis experience
- Extensive computer knowledge and experience including advanced experience in Microsoft Excel, accounting software optimization, financial planning & analysis software, business intelligence and data visualization software, and business process automation.
- Project accounting software experience strongly preferred; Deltek and/or CostPoint experience a plus.
- Experience preparing budgets, financial statements and reports, and analyses.
- Knowledge and experience with data analysis and forecasting methods.
Pay Transparency
The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $115,000 USD annually. This salary range is GTI Energy’s good faith estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, GTI Energy’s business or organizational needs and an individual’s relevant experience, education, qualifications, certifications, skills, seniority, geographic location, and/or performance. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus. The range listed is just one component of GTI Energy’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, paid time off, and region-specific benefits.
