The Wellness Purchasing Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the inventory procurement process for multiple Austin Tx store locations, ensuring that stock levels are optimized to meet operational demands effectively. This position entails working closely with suppliers, tracking inventory levels, creating purchase orders, and analyzing purchasing trends to enhance inventory management. Additionally, the purchasing manager is responsible for price negotiations, maintaining accurate product pricing, ensuring timely deliveries, all while upholding quality standards and aligning with the company's budget and sales objectives.
The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical abilities, excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with suppliers and various departments within the organization, attention to detail, a comprehensive understanding of inventory processes, and expertise in market trends to inform purchasing decisions. Familiarity with Catapult Inventory Management software is a plus.

Key Responsibilities -
Inventory Management:
- Create, review and process purchase orders for all Austin Tx store locations.
- Manage and oversee the purchasing and inventory control processes for all Austin Tx store locations.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure optimal stock availability. Work closely with the inventory team to forecast demand and plan reorders.
- Analyze inventory levels and forecast future inventory needs to prevent out of stocks or overstock.
- Conduct regular inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies.
- Prepare and maintain purchase orders, supplier contracts, and other procurement documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and logistics, to streamline procurement processes.Assist in developing and implementing inventory management policies and procedures.
- Maintain current cost and retail price on all inventory to ensure target margins are met.
- Manage Product Entry, Price Updates, Margin Maintenance, and Communicate Changes
- Ensure the company's online store product selection is current.
Vendor Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential suppliers.
- Negotiate terms, pricing, and contracts to maximize value for the company while maintaining product quality.
- Evaluates vendors based on quality, timeliness, and price.
Team Management:
- Evaluate and monitor head buyer performance and any other members of the buying team.
Product Sourcing & Development:
- Identify and source high-quality health and supplement products, ensuring they meet company standards.
- Coordinate with the Wellness Director to hold focus groups as needed to review potential new vendors and products.
- Develop planograms
Market Analysis:
- Conduct market research to stay updated on industry trends, customer preferences, and competitive offerings.
- Use insights to make informed buying decisions and develop the product assortment.
Sales & Profitability:
- Analyze sales data and performance metrics to evaluate the success of product lines.
- Make recommendations for product promotions, markdowns, and discontinuations to achieve sales and profitability targets.
- Coordinate Promotional Offers, including negotiating new and existing deal structures.
- Identify and implement strategies to improve productivity and profitability
- Run reports and synthesize data to review financial, sales and activity reports to monitor goal progress, loss prevention, and maximization of profit opportunities
Collaboration:
- Work closely with the Wellness Director, Marketing team, and Wellness Manager teams to develop effective product presentations and promotions that drive customer engagement and sales.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and logistics, to streamline procurement processes.
- Travels to each Austin Tx store location once a week to review inventory and work with the management team on any issues they may be experiencing.
- Organizing end-caps, store displays, promotional displays and highly-visible areas to maximum retail benefit in collaboration with marketing and the Wellness Director.
- Meet with the wellness management team to discuss department goals, challenges, improvements, and the development of new programs, policies and procedures.
- Coordinates with fellow managers to monitor inventory and determine supply needs.
Compliance:
- Ensure all products meet health and safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company guidelines. Stay informed about changes in industry regulations and ensure timely implementation.
- Manages other members of the purchasing team.
● Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in buying or product management, preferably in the health and wellness or supplements category.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- In-depth knowledge of the health and supplements industry, including current trends and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in using data analysis tools and software to make informed buying decisions.
- Excellent organization, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities with little to no supervision.
- Proficient in the Catapult inventory management software preferred and Microsoft Office Suite.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and in front of a monitor/ computer screen.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times with reasonable accommodation.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $70,500.00 per year
