Beginning-level job in testing, quality, engineering or other technical area. Work may be in a laboratory, test area, product documentation, manufacturing area, or pilot plant requiring some judgment in determining work methods, performing less complicated tests and recording data. Builds and tests mechanical models or product assemblies, and performs related duties requiring knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality and/or laboratory techniques and use of standard test instruments. Works under direct supervision and receives frequent instruction
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform production lines product audits and communicates results and expectations to the line to address
- Verify Quality Control standards and measurement equipment / methods are being used by operators to detect and address non-conforming parts/products
- Provide daily checks of processes to ensure operating in defined ranges, verify measurement data/routines and reactions to checked data
- Assist in providing specification reviews, and assist in containment of non-conforming parts
- Coordinate getting gauges/measurement devices cycled thru the calibration process
- Gather information to initiate Corrective Actions requests for supplied or fabricated parts and assist in 5 Why / 4 Step Problem Solving to address.
- Define and implement robust process controls/error proofing solutions that ensure product conforms to specification and performance standards
- Work to establish process capability, validate new and current equipment, and identify continuous improvements efforts using DOE, DMAIC, and lean principles
- 80%+ of time spent in production areas
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- PC Skills – experience entering quality data into QC Gage/SPC system and usage of Measurement Equipment (test ovens, Instron, vision systems)
- Familiar with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word for data entry and editing of documentation for shop floor
- Experience with aesthetic specifications and using visual standards
- Use of 5 Why and other Problem-Solving techniques
- Knowledge of Window Quality specifications preferred
- Previous experience in thermal plastics not required but a plus
- Able to lookup drawings and specifications with ability to interpret required measurements from dimensioned prints
- Experienced Trainer using AMS training techniques (e.g. Tell Show Do Review)
- Intermediate math aptitude Willingness to provide feedback regarding acceptable quality and expectations to not pass bad product
MUST HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2- or 4-year degree in Technology/Engineering or equivalent experience
- 2-5 years Quality/Mfg. experience
- Basic knowledge of quality and lean manufacturing principles
- Basic knowledge of quality systems, SPC and process capability
- Strong aptitude in process improvement and problem solving
- Interpretation of blue prints, drawings, or specifications
NICE-TO-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:
Presentation skills; able to provide details of investigation to next level manager or supervisors
COMPENSATION:
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to work experience, education, geographic location, certifications, etc. Your recruiter can share more about the specific compensation package for your preferred role during the hiring process. Successful candidates in this role are expected to earn $21.80-$31.60 per hour.
