Overview
The
Stationary Engineer is responsible for operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide variety of pumping, heating, ventilating, air conditioning (HVAC), refrigeration, and auxiliary plant machinery and equipment within a large, complex, or multi-faceted facility. This role ensures that all equipment, machinery, and systems are functioning optimally, safely, and in compliance with all applicable safety regulations and standards.
Pay: $69.52/hour
The pay listed is the hourly rate for this position. A specific offer will vary based on applicant’s experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and alignment with market data.

Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor pumping, HVAC, refrigeration, and auxiliary plant equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on mechanical and electrical systems, including boilers, chillers, air handlers, pumps, and compressors.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to equipment malfunctions or system failures to minimize downtime and prevent disruptions.
- Maintain a safe working environment by following all safety protocols and ensuring equipment is functioning according to regulatory standards.
- Record daily operational data, log maintenance activities, and document repairs and inspections in accordance with company policies.
- Collaborate with other team members to support facility-wide maintenance and operations.
- Ensure compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements concerning the operation and maintenance of facility machinery and systems.
- Respond to emergency situations and system failures, performing quick and efficient repairs as needed.
- Maintain inventory of parts, tools, and supplies, and assist with ordering and stocking as necessary.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment and machinery, identifying potential issues before they lead to equipment failure.
- Assist in developing and improving preventive maintenance programs to increase equipment longevity and system efficiency.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or training in stationary engineering, HVAC, or related field preferred.
- Previous experience in a stationary engineering role or in the operation and maintenance of plant machinery and equipment.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration, pumps, and auxiliary machinery systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical systems.
- Familiarity with safety protocols, environmental regulations, and compliance standards.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, if necessary.
- Certification in HVAC, refrigeration, or stationary engineering (e.g., 2nd or 1st Class Engineer, EPA certification) preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment or tools, sometimes up to [specify weight].
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions (e.g., hot, cold, noisy, etc.).
- Capability to work on ladders, rooftops, or in confined spaces as necessary.
