Description: You will be the Research Engineer for the Integration and Test Engineering Laboratories team, working on the design, fabrication, and testing of mechanical devices. Our team is responsible for creating innovative solutions for experimental purposes, and we're looking for a skilled engineer to join our team.
What You Will Be Doing
As the Research Engineer, you will be responsible for planning the layout, fixturing, and fabrication of mechanical devices, as well as setting up and operating various machine tools and equipment, including welding equipment. You will work from verbal instructions, sketches, or detailed drawings to create original parts, tools, mechanisms, and devices for experimental purposes.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Planning and fabricating mechanical devices
• Setting up and operating machine tools and equipment, including welding equipment
• Solving problems related to work-holding, material selection, and fabrication methods
• Interfacing with mechanical engineers to refine requirements and recommend fabrication processes
• Working to exacting tolerances and dimensions in a developmental laboratory setting

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related, or equivalent professional experience
- Experience welding to Engineering or Production Operations requirements
- Experience with Microsoft Office software suite
Desired Skills:
- CAD experience with Autocad, or PTC/Creo
- Knowledgeable in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
