Description:You will be the Mechanical Assembler & Fabrication Technician for the Engineering Prototype Laboratory (EPL) facility. EPL provides Engineering & Fabrication support for the Research & Development (R&D) teams within LMMFC.
What You Will Be Doing
As a Mechanical Assembler & Fabrication Technician you will be required to work independently with limited support from the EPL Manufacturing & Engineering Staff and be able to perform in a "Build To Print" Machining & Fabrication manufacturing environment utilizing Engineering Drawings and 3D Models to provide direction to perform the tasks required.
The successful candidate will possess the KSAs (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities) required to plan and safely execute all tasks necessary to assemble high complexity / high precision hardware, in a high mix low volume development shop environment. The roles primary responsibilities will be executing various complex assembly tasks and modifications and repair of assemblies either in our Facility or other Labs and supporting the EPL Manufacturing team as needed.

Basic Qualifications:
Candidate must be a US Citizen and have the ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.
Candidate must have 5+ Years of professional experience in a Fabrication & Manufacturing Environment.
Candidate must have experience with:
Utilization of basic Hand Tools, Pneumatic & Electric Tools, Die Grinders, Sanders, Hand Drills, Drill Presses, Band Saws and other general Fabrication Shop equipment.
Must be able to Read and Interpret Engineering Drawings.
Understand the different types and use of various Materials (Aluminum, Stainless Steel etc)
Mechanical Assembly experience utilizing Helicoil Inserts, Screws, Bolts, Nuts, Bushings etc.
Willingness to obtain Certification and Operate a Forklift.
Effective communication skills to communicate with Engineering and fellow Machining & Fabrication Technician staff.
Skilled in problem solving techniques and methods (process, product & procedure).
Experienced with Computers and Microsoft Office suite.
Desired Skills:
Desired Skills would include:
Aerospace Mechanical Assembly experience utilizing and installing Helicoil Inserts (STI), Precision Pins, Bushings, Nut Plates, Rivets, Keenserts etc.
Experience with different type of Rivets, Rivet guns and Riveting processes.
Experience with Drill Jigs. Fabrication and the use of.
Read and Interpret Engineering Drawings and Technical Notes for the usage of Mil Spec Procedures and Compounds for Assembly.
Experience with mixing compounds (Poly Sulfide etc) and the use of Loctite for STI (Inserts) and Pin installations.
Aerospace Bonding processes utilizing various Goops & Glues.
Ability to perform Repairs of Aerospace Hardware including but not limited to Broken Screw and Tap Removal, drilling out Rivets, making modifications to hardware and re-assembly.
Understanding of GD&T
CAD/CAM Experience
Sheetmetal Fabrication Experience including the use of Press Brakes, Shears and CNC Punch Press.
Manual or CNC Machining Experience on Mills and Lathes.
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
