This is an Engineering Intern position running from May 2025 through August 2025.
This internship will be with the Trane Technologies Applied Compression Engineering Group located in La Crosse, Wisconsin. We are responsible for the analysis, design, testing, and qualification of Trane positive displacement and centrifugal compressors. You will be given a variety of assignments to experience the theoretical and practical side of engineering. Most activity will take place in an office environment with some time spent in the Trane laboratory. Limited travel to suppliers and customers may also be required, depending on the assignment.
Core Job Responsibilities (others may be added):
- Perform engineering analysis and modeling to support design choices and predict compressor performance.
- Support lab testing and data analysis to verify that compressors meet requirements.
- Create and maintain engineering documentation, including technical reports, drawings, and specifications.
- Provide technical support to laboratory technicians, manufacturing engineering, suppliers and operations.
- Collaborate with team to complete engineering design projects.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (Sophomore or Junior standing) or related field
- Overall 3.0 GPA or above.
- Coursework completed in Thermodynamics and Mechanical System Design.

- Demonstrated ability to take initiative (minimum of one example in the last four years such as: previous employment, school club officer, sports team captain, resident advisor, etc.)
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
