KBR is seeking a Labor and Delivery Recovery Postpartum Registered Nurse to provide high-quality patient care at a military hospital. In this role, you will support active-duty service members, their families, and veterans by delivering exceptional obstetric care in a fast-paced and rewarding environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform monitoring of triage patients, including continuous fetal monitoring, spontaneous rupture of membrane check, labor check, prolonged monitoring, rule out pre-term labor, decreased fetal movement, and pre-eclampsia.
  • Perform monitoring of patients, including continuous fetal monitoring, vital signs, labor checks, and cervical examinations.
  • Provide intravenous management (fluids, Pitocin, MgSO4, antibiotics, blood products).
  • Provide pain management. Monitor patient status on continuous laboring epidurals, intravenous narcotics, and provide emotional support.
  • Assist provider with inductions (cervical ripening, artificial rupture of membranes, Pitocin).
  • Assist provider with vaginal delivery procedures (pushing, delivery, recovery).
  • Assist provider with operative vaginal delivery procedures (vacuum, forceps).
  • Perform pre-op for Cesarean-sections (C-section) (shave-prep, Foley catheter, intravenous bolus, and emotional support).
  • Perform procedures for transition of normal newborn (bath, shots, assessment, and breast-feeding assistance).
  • Provide stabilization for transport of high-risk patients (MgSO4, dexamethasone, antibiotics, and emotional support).
  • Provide patient and family teaching.
  • Support C-section deliveries as circulating nurse in the operating room.
  • Provide breastfeeding support and education.
  • Shall be responsible for and provide family and patient centered nursing care to infants and women of childbearing age.
  • Shall maintain accurate and current notes in the electronic medical records of all patients cared for, as required.
  • Shall assume additional administrative or clinical duties as requested or needed to ensure sustainment of normal unit operations and ensure compliance with JC standards, to include, but not limited to, conducting mandatory clinical training, monitoring clinic supplies and equipment, ensuring enforcement of SOP’s and standards, conducting monthly record chart audits and attend staff meetings.
  • Monitors cardiac telemetry, performs EKG runs, and interprets cardiac rhythm strips.
  • May be required to work on the Labor & Delivery Unit and the Mother-Baby Unit (LDRP).
  • May be required to perform charge nurse duties.
  •  Demonstrate a clear understanding of adhering to hospital policies and procedures, particularly those dealing with patient health information (PHI) and patient confidentiality.
  • Assess newborns for symptomatic changes and educate families on the expectations and side effects of treatments and procedures.
  • Identify newborns for which care is or is perceived to be in deviance from the normal parameters and accepted standards of care recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics and research-based Policy & Procedures
  • Interview family independently and works with staff medical providers to initiate corrective actions as indicated.
  • Provide verbal and written instructions to the newborn's family on matters pertaining to procedures, treatments, and follow-up appointments including potential risks, side effects, and health benefits. 
  • Identifies overall nursing needs as it relates to health needs of newborns.
  • Deliver lactation care within accepted standards and provides antepartum/postpartum breastfeeding consultations.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Education: Associates, or bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university.

Experience: The Labor Delivery Recovery Postpartum (LDRP) Registered Nurse at a minimum, must have one year Labor Delivery Recovery Postpartum or Labor & Delivery experience, with no more than 12 months since last work assignment.

Certifications: Basic Life Support- Have and maintain current certifications in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification is preferred. 

Licensure/Registration:  The Labor Delivery Recovery Postpartum (LDRP) Registered Nurse shall possess a valid, unrestricted license (with no limitations, stipulations, or pending adverse actions) to practice nursing as a RN in at least one state or territory (Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or the Virgin Islands) in the United States.  All licenses are remained current, valid, and unrestricted during contract employment.

• Shall be able to read, write, speak, and understand English well enough to effectively communicate with all patients and other health care providers.

 • Shall be knowledgeable of equipment and supply terminology and skill sufficient to identify and use necessary equipment and supplies properly and to communicate proper use with nurses, medical staff, patients, and family members.

• Possess knowledge of computer operations and proficiency in the use of basic word processing, data entry and automated medical records.

 • Position requires U.S. citizenship

Basic Compensation:

$86,400 - $130,000

This pay range applies to candidates working in the DMV area. The offered rate will be based on contract affordability and the selected candidate’s working location, knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.

Additional Compensation:

This position may receive shift differential pay for night and weekend shifts  if scheduled to work those shifts. KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
