Title:
Aerospace Part Inspector / Calibration Technician
Location - Yeovil (on site), with some travel to other sites.
Hours - Full time - 37 hours per week (finish at 12:30pm on a Friday) with the options of flextime working and excellent benefits package including private health care.
Please note this role requires UK SC Clearance. Applicants must be eligible to obtain an SC Clearance, which requires UK Nationality and a 5-year footprint in the UK.
The Role
This role is working for KBR who are a key supplier to major Aerospace customers where compliance and accuracy of work is vital in the industry and daily operations.
You will be in based in an environmentally controlled lab on an Aerospace site within a small local team of people in a professional environment where you will be primarily responsible for the inspection of non-metallic & metallic parts and the calibration of dimensional hand tools. This is a multirole whereby workload is split between inspection, generation of FAI’ and calibration of hand tools.
The successful applicant will be self-motivated, enthusiastic, and hard working with good communication skills. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with an engineering background in either machining or manufacturing looking to develop their skills in inspection and calibration discipline.
Responsibilities
Perform inspections of non-metallic and metallic parts using non-contact measurement techniques and general hand tools
Independently generate, populate, review, and submit First Article Inspection Reports (FAIs) to the AS9102 standard
Conduct customer-requested inspections as needed and generate inspection reports
Calibrate a wide range of dimensional measuring equipment, including micrometers, verniers, screw and air gauging equipment, Go/NoGo gauges, and acceptance fixtures
Follow established calibration and manufacturers' procedures accurately
Provide product and quality support to the New Product Introduction (NPI) and Product Investigation departments, assisting with new tooling and fault-finding to technical drawings
Be prepared for occasional travel to complete calibration tasks required to meet customer contract obligations
What we Need
Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship or applicable technical training and certifications
Proven experience working in an inspection role within an aerospace or manufacturing environment
Demonstrated ability to produce FAIs to the AS9102 standard
Competence in the use of CMM measurement techniques, vision projectors/microscopes, surface finish tools, and general hand tools
Technical Skills/Knowledge
Knowledge of balloon drawing software and FAI reporting tools (desirable)
Proficiency in roundness, concentricity, and surface finish equipment
Strong skills in MS Office programs, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Understanding of ISO9001, ISO10012, or ISO17025 calibration standards
Qualifications/Certifications Requirements
Educational/Professional
Essential
Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship to HNC level or applicable technical training and certifications
In lieu of an apprenticeship, previous experience in a manufacturing or aerospace environment
A full UK driving license to drive company vehicles
