Hourly: $34.03 - $44.35
Position Summary
The School of Law, in the College of Law & Public Service at the National University, invites applications for Part-time Pre-Law and Paralegal faculty. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated record of or potential for excellence in teaching in their field and a commitment to serving the university’s diverse adult student body. The successful candidate will have the potential for a commitment to serving the university’s diverse adult student body. This position primarily works closely with the Academic Program Director and other faculty within the program and contributes to ensuring program quality, student engagement, and success. Primary responsibility is to engage students, teach doctrine and black-letter law, conduct weekly synchronous sessions, offer excellent feedback, and inspire students to achieve course and program outcomes relevant to the core discipline.
Essential Job Duties:
- Provide substantive, timely feedback to students on various assessment activities.
- Maintain a positive, safe, inclusive student-centric learning environment.
- Complete required tasks on deadlines (e.g., final grades, assessment, grading rubrics, input for grade appeals, etc.)
- Maintain appropriate professional training and/or scholarly activities, when applicable.
- Provide feedback to the course lead regarding the course content.
- Identify at-risk students and collaborate with student services.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- A Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school (ABA preferred).
- A minimum of three years of legal practice experience.
- Proficiency in the use of technology in the delivery of education.
- All skills, abilities and education will be considered for minimum qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Teaching experience with favorable student evaluations, preferably in the areas of legal research and writing, criminal law, and legal technology.
- Experience with online teaching and the systems that support it.
- Curriculum development experience.

Candidate receiving offers will be offered a salary/pay rate commensurate with experience that vary based on a candidate’s qualifications, skills, and competencies.
