Chief Aerospace Safety Office’s (CASO) Boeing Global Services - Commercial (BGS-C) Safety Team is seeking a Safety and Airworthiness Engineer (Experienced, Senior, or Principal) to provide system safety engineering for the BGS Commercial Modifications and Conversions portfolio based in Long Beach, CA.

In this pivotal role, you will oversee safety initiatives across all commercial programs, including the 737, 767, 777, and 787 aircraft. Your expertise will also extend to critical areas such as interiors and commercial-to-cargo conversions, ensuring that our modifications meet the highest safety and reliability standards. As part of the Safety organization, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement comprehensive safety strategies that align with Boeing's commitment to excellence and innovation.
Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels, including Experienced, Senior, and Principal Level Safety Engineers.
Position Responsibilities
Conducts system research and analysis to identify potential or investigate reported in-service fleet hazards, risks, and safety concerns and quantifies impact.
Identifies safety and mission assurance issue systemic root causes and recommends corrective actions using industry best practices.
Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to define, validate, and integrate safety, mission success, and airworthiness requirements; incorporates into designs, operations, and procedures.
Performs or reviews tests, analyses, inspections, audits, and simulations to verify system meets defined safety and mission assurance requirements.
Creates and maintains aerospace safety and mission assurance tools and processes.
Documents safety analysis, hazard mitigation, and validation and verification activities in compliance with relevant customer and regulatory safety standards.
Develops and maintains safety and corrective action plans.
Assists with demonstrating safety hazard risk mitigations and control methods to the customer and regulators.
Ensures mission success through execution of Mission Assurance activities throughout the program lifecycle.
Contributes to establishing global safety advocacy strategies, training, tools, and methods.
Work Authorization:
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options (Long Beach, CA).
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
3+ years of experience in Commercial Modifications and Conversions processes.
3+ years of experience in Commercial System Safety Engineering processes (including but not limited to Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Fault Tree, System Safety Assessment (SSA), Certification Plans, and Zonal Analysis).
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
5+ years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
10+ years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in presenting data to customers, suppliers, and program and site leaders.
Experience in commercial aerospace safety processes is highly preferred; however, experience in defense aerospace safety processes will also be considered.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary pay range:
Experienced (level 3): $104,550 - $141,450
Senior (level 4): $128,350 - $173,650
Principal (Level 5): $157,250 - $212,750
