The Digital Modernization Sector at Leidos currently pursuing a new opportunity that has openings for a Cloud Services Engineer to work in Tampa, FL. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) Enterprise Development, Application, and Training (EDAT) mission. In this mission we are focused on providing innovative, data-driven solutions and enterprise architecture enhancements to enable seamless operations across USSOCOM's global network. The program emphasizes rapid development and deployment of technologies to enhance the mobility and readiness of Special Operations Forces (SOF) in both combat and non-combat scenarios. Key tasks include program management, application development, training support, and technology integration to maintain USSOCOM's operational edge. The EDAT program underscores agility and adaptability, ensuring SOF professionals have access to the information and tools they need to meet evolving mission requirements.
Primary Responsibilities.
Lead the design, deployment, and maintenance of secure and scalable cloud solutions across multiple platforms, including AWS, Azure, and hybrid environments, leveraging practical experience with Microsoft Azure and AWS deployments within USSOCOM.
Develop cloud architecture frameworks and strategies that align with EDAT program objectives and USSOCOM operational requirements, utilizing a deep understanding of the SOF Information Environment (SIE).
Oversee day-to-day operations of cloud environments, ensuring performance, availability, and security by utilizing SIEM tools such as Splunk, Trellix ePO, and Palo Alto Networks, which have been used to maintain high compliance standards.
Implement cost-optimization strategies to maximize the value of cloud services while maintaining performance standards, incorporating experience in cloud billing and cost management tools.
Ensure all cloud solutions adhere to DoD security and compliance requirements, including NIST 800-53, DISA STIG, and Zero Trust principles, as demonstrated through extensive work with ACAS, RMF, and DISA STIGs.
Implement security best practices for identity management, encryption, data protection, and access control in cloud environments, drawing from practical experience with Trellix Endpoint Security and Palo Alto Virtual Firewall.
Design and implement CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation, leveraging experience with automation tools and scripting to enhance security and efficiency.
Integrate cloud services with existing on-premise systems to enable seamless interoperability, utilizing experience in integrating diverse data sources into Microsoft Sentinel.
Collaborate with development, cybersecurity, and operations teams to design and deploy cloud solutions that meet mission-critical needs, applying experience in cross-functional team collaboration within USSOCOM.
Engage with USSOCOM stakeholders to identify requirements, present solutions, and address cloud-related challenges, utilizing strong communication skills developed through stakeholder engagement and training.
Implement and manage cloud monitoring tools to proactively detect and resolve performance and security issues, utilizing Microsoft Sentinel to manage security incidents, alerts, and rules.
Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans for cloud environments, drawing from experience in maintaining system availability and implementing network upgrades.
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including architecture diagrams, deployment guides, and operational procedures, and provide mentorship and training on cloud services and best practices, based on experience in developing training curricula and documentation.
Basic Qualifications
Typically requires BS and 12+ years of prior relevant experience or Master’s with 6 – 10 years of prior relevant experience, or 16+ years’ experience in Enterprise IT and / or cloud computing, with demonstrated experience in USSOCOM in lieu of degree.
Ability to obtain and maintain an active Top Secret/SCI clearance.
6+ years of experience in IT, with at least 2+ years in cloud services engineering or architecture roles, including experience designing and managing enterprise-scale cloud environments in government or high-security contexts.
Proven track record of designing and managing enterprise-scale cloud environments in government or high-security contexts, with specific experience supporting USSOCOM's mission-critical IT and security operations.
Expertise in cloud platforms, including AWS, Azure, and hybrid cloud solutions, as demonstrated by hands-on experience in these environments.
Proficiency in cloud-native tools and services, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and automation frameworks (Terraform, Ansible), with practical experience in automating tasks and deployments.
Strong ability to work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to align cloud solutions with mission objectives, as evidenced by experience in collaborative projects within USSOCOM.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences, as demonstrated in training and documentation.
DoD 8570 IAT Level II, CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP+), CompTIA Security+, CompTIA Network+ Certifications.
Preferred Qualifications
Doctorate degree in technical domain, or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Experience implementing Zero Trust frameworks and integrating security controls into cloud architectures.
Familiarity with USSOCOM operational requirements and the SOF Information Environment (SIE).
Previous experience supporting DoD programs, ensuring compliance with strict security and operational standards.
Proficiency in designing and managing automated deployment pipelines and incorporating DevSecOps practices.
Experience with IaC tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi, and CI/CD tools like Jenkins or GitLab.
Proven ability to analyze and optimize cloud performance, implementing cost-control strategies to maximize value.
Experience with cloud billing and cost management tools to monitor and forecast cloud usage costs.
Demonstrated experience leading technical teams and mentoring junior engineers in cloud technologies.
Strong ability to foster a collaborative environment and drive innovation within the team.
Experience with Splunk and Power BI integration with other SIEM solutions.
Experience with Ansible playbooks.
Experience with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI).

Pay Range $126,100.00 - $227,950.00
