This is a full-time salaried position: Monday – Friday, 1st shift.

The Senior Counsel, Litigation will be a key member of the Legal & Compliance Department, responsible for supporting the management and oversight of Catalent’s broad range of litigations, arbitrations, and investigations on a worldwide basis. The Senior Counsel, Litigation will report to the Senior Assistant General Counsel, Litigation. The Senior Counsel’s primary business location will be in the corporate headquarters in New Jersey.

Our Somerset location is the corporate headquarters for Catalent Pharma Solutions. This location houses our state-of-the-art laboratory, clinical, commercial manufacturing plant for oral dose forms in addition to being the Center of Excellence for Highly Potent Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients.

The Role:

  • Support Catalent’s response to a broad range of disputed matters, including  complex contract disputes, employment claims, regulatory litigation, insurance disputes, and complex subpoenas

  • Actively manage the discovery process, including preparing witnesses for testimony and lead eDiscovery efforts to ensure efficiency

  • Provide solution-focused recommendations and legal strategy to business partners and outside counsel to proactively mitigate risk

  • Respond to administrative charges and other employment claims

  • Conduct internal investigations into allegations of compliance breaches or violations of the law or Catalent policy

  • Clearly and concisely communicate complex legal issues to appropriate
    business and legal stakeholders for consideration and action

  • Supervise and work closely with outside counsel as needed to ensure outside counsel’s work is satisfactory, cost-effective, and timely

  • Up to 10% annual travel expectations (domestic)

  • Other duties as assigned

The Candidate:

  • Juris Doctor degree from accredited law school, required

  • Minimum 5+ years of complex commercial litigation experience with a well-established law firm

  • Admitted to practice in the appropriate New York, New Jersey, or
    Pennsylvania (in-house admission is acceptable)

  • Corporate legal department experience at a company in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries, preferred

  • Individual may be required to sit, stand, walk regularly and occasionally lift 0-15 pounds
