Job Summary
The Director of Business Optimization is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing and optimizing organizational processes, driving sales operational efficiency, and supporting strategic business initiatives. This individual collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution of business sales strategies, improve performance metrics for both internal and external partners, and achieve revenue goals. The role requires a balance of analytical expertise, strategic thinking, and strong leadership skills. The Business Optimization team will work to prospect and scope custom development opportunities that drive increased revenue and partnership on strategic accounts. While working closely with Business Development, Client Services, Product, and Engineering teams, this candidate will serve as the primary touch point between these teams, bridging the gap with product, technology, and business growth concepts within Irby’s Technology and Communications team. This focus will result in attained revenue goals, advancements in product development, delivery, and scope, as well as customer/client retention and contract management.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Initial Business Execution:
- Develop and implement operational processes enabling the transition of SAAS business from its current ownership to an Irby owned solution.
Operational Sales Strategy and Process Optimization:
- Develop and implement operational strategies to enhance efficiency, productivity, and scalability of products and services.
- Align business operations with the organization's overall goals and objectives.
- Evaluate and refine existing processes to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence ensuring revenue growth.
- Identify inefficiencies and implement data-driven solutions while gaining buy-in from the entire leadership team.
Cross Functional Team Leadership:
- Fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability to achieve business objectives of both Irby and its partners.
- Assist in hiring, training, and development of team members to build a high-performing department.
Performance Monitoring:
- Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of business operations.
- Prepare and present performance reports to executive leadership, offering actionable insights.
Project Management:
- Oversee the implementation of cross-functional projects, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business objectives.
- Coordinate resources and communicate progress with stakeholders.
Budget and Resource Management:
- Manage operational budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and resource allocation efficiency.
- Collaborate with finance teams to forecast and monitor expenses.
Client Sales and Product Support:
- Partner with Business Development and Customer Success teams to optimize customer experience and ensure contract renewals.
- Conduct training and development programs to enhance team capabilities.
Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks to business operations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or three to five related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of and experience utilizing marketing practices and principles.
- Knowledge of and experience utilizing management practices and principles.
- Ability to communicate effectively across various channels, departments, functional teams, and customer categories.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in utility industry, particularly telecommunications and broadband.
- Five years of experience in the Electric Co-operative Communication Business.
- Experience of engagement at upper management level within investor-owned utilities, cooperative utilities, and municipal organizations.
- Experience of engagement with installing contractors, engineering firms, consulting firms, and EPC organizations associated with the utility industry.
- Successful history of sales growth in a Business Environment.
