Description:We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Artificial Intelligence Engineer to join our Lockheed Martin Artificial Intelligence Center (LAIC) team. As a key member of our Red Team, you will play a critical role in developing technologies and products that leverage Artificial Intelligence to provide discriminating capability to our customers.
The AI Red Team ensures the safety, security, compliance, and resilience of AI systems across their lifecycle. We take a proactive, adversarial approach to testing, evaluating, and certifying AI models and infrastructure against data risks, adversarial threats, hardware/software vulnerabilities, and regulatory requirements. Our multidisciplinary team—spanning data, algorithms, hardware/software, and ML frameworks—develops security frameworks, enforces best practices, and drives responsible AI adoption.
About the Role:
As an AI/ML Algorithms and Frameworks AI Security and Compliance Specialist, you will test and validate the security, robustness, and compliance of AI/ML models, ensuring they operate within defined safety, reliability, and ethical boundaries. This includes evaluating adversarial risks, bias, drift detection mechanisms, and LLM-specific threats. You will collaborate with AI developers, ML platform engineers, business partners, and control partners to ensure that AI models are secure, compliant, resilient, and responsible from the start.
Key Responsibilities:
● Assess all associated risks in ML algorithms across supervised, unsupervised, reinforcement, and deep learning models, ensuring resilience to adversarial attacks, data poisoning, and model inversion risks.
● Evaluate LLM-specific risks, such as prompt injection, model leakage, jailbreak attacks, and hallucinations, ensuring appropriate safety mitigations.
● Test and verify model drift and data drift detection mechanisms, ensuring AI models continue to perform within acceptable thresholds and that guard rails, fail-safe mechanisms, and fall backs are functional as intended.
● Assess compliance with AI security frameworks (e.g., NIST AI RMF, ISO/IEC 23894) and regulatory guidelines, ensuring adherence to ethical AI principles.
The selected candidate can work remotely, or at any major Lockheed Martin facility.
Must be a US Citizen.
