Job Summary

Under immediate supervision, collects parking fees from customers, monitors parking facilities. May exercise functional supervision.

This position is a temporary, "unclassified" position and has no disciplinary appeal rights to the Municipal Civil Service Commission.  This position is likewise subject to at-will employment status and can be terminated at any time for any reason.

Work Schedule

  • Shift work, days, nights, weekends, holidays as needed

Essential Job Functions

  • Collects parking fees from customers.
  • Receives and verifies correct change fund.
  • Operates an electronic cash register or time clock to compute fees manually.
  • Completes daily reports for assigned zone.
  • Verifies and counts money and number of parking tickets collected; turns in daily receipts to fiscal office.
  • Monitors assigned parking lot and informs management of any unusual situations or incidents.
  • Operates two-way communication radio.
  • Responds to customer complaints and accidents, speaking with and listening to determine best way to address customer concerns.
  • Provides customers with directions and information as needed.
  • Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency).
  • Cashier or cash handling experience is highly desirable.
  • Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License.

Applicant Information

  • Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience in order to meet the minimum requirements of the job. One year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months. One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.

  • Ability to perform all physical requirements of the position with or without accommodations.
  • Working conditions are primarily in an outside environment with frequent exposure to temperature variations.
