Engineer 3, AI SDLC Tooling
DevX
Are you looking to have an impact on a large technology organization and the work of thousands of developers? If you are passionate about reducing cognitive load and toil for developers, then Developer Experience (DevX) Organization is the place for you!
Comcast’s DevX organization creates an extensible ecosystem of solutions, evolving based on deep partnerships, that empower Comcast’s Engineering community to do more of what they love and feel deeply connected to their impactful work.
DevX believes we can make developers happier, more focused, and more innovative. We do this by providing tools and automated processes that reduce the impact non-functional requirements have on our developer’s lives. We do this by introducing tools that help our developers do their jobs better.
Tooling for engineers is changing more rapidly today than it has in an exceptionally long time as AI-enabled tools find their way into the SDLC. We are looking for a lead technical engineer to help us find the right places to introduce AI into the SDLC, take part in tools and technology evaluations, be a part of build / buy decisions, and be a part of transforming the way software is built at Comcast. Part of that means building tools in this space, in partnership with other teams in Comcast, and to our specific needs here. Another part is evangelizing these sorts of tools and taking part in their rollout planning, training our teams, and being the voice of a new age in software engineering.
If you are looking for a high-impact position in a rapidly changing field where you can apply and hone your engineering, financial, and innovation skills then this role is for you.
About the team
In this new role, you’ll have the chance to lead the technical direction for a team focused on bringing AI tools to our Comcast engineers. Your team will consist of members in both the US and the CIEC. Meanwhile, you’ll work closely with the DevX Strategy team, which consists of four other groups: Architecture, Dojo, OSPO and Product Management. You’ll also partner with the other groups inside DevX to both build our products, but also as early adopters of the technologies you’re bringing to our engineering teams.
How we support you
In addition to building belonging in your day-to-day job:
- You will have an opportunity to take part in a week–long Lab Week three times a year – a Hackathon where we test innovative ways to push our platforms and products into the future.
- You will have dedicated time to learn and teach each other through multiple internal technology conferences throughout the year.
- You will take part in dedicated technology, leadership and culture discussion forums, book clubs and internal podcasts.
- You and your teammates will take the time to have fun and build team camaraderie and psychological safety.
- You will have an opportunity to take part in many Comcast-wide training programs to sharpen the skills you need to lead effectively.
What you will do
- Contribute as an engineer building tools and platforms in a software engineering team focused on tooling for our engineers. Some of the work includes building an LLM platform, creating IDE plugins, and creating software that builds test systems.
- Assist in the integration of AI tools into the software engineering process for various roles, including product management, program management, engineering, and QA.
- Participate in the evaluation of AI tooling in the marketplace for applicability to Comcast SDLC, including tools and process assessment. Use the latest tools, give your feedback, and help the rest of the team learn from what you learn.
- Support the promotion of AI-enabled tooling in the development lifecycle through engagements in the Comcast Dojo.
- Collaborate closely with other AI teams inside Comcast.
What you will bring
- Technical experience in software engineering, with a focus on AI and machine learning
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Go
- Ability to integrate AI tools into the software engineering process and foster adoption within the engineering community
- Demonstrated curiosity and learning mindset
Where you can make an impact
- The day-to-day life of engineers at Comcast is fast paced and complicated, and it is getting faster and more complicated every day. In this role you’ll bring real, tangible benefits to the day-to-day work that our engineers do. Making our engineers faster and better affects many functions inside Comcast.
- The rise of generative AI means a new way of building applications, and you and this team will provide the fundamental pieces that teams using generative AI will need to bring their ideas to life quickly, safely, and with the financial and audit controls necessary to be impactful in Comcast.
We are interested in attracting a diverse set of candidates for this position. If you are not sure if you qualify, please err on the side of applying.
Our Values

- We recognize that the best idea can come from anyone, and that effective leaders create ways to solicit and consider these ideas.
