Our Boeing Global Real Estate and Facilities (GREF) organization is seeking a Facilities Crane Engineer at a Mid-Level or Senior Level specializing in cranes to join our Facilities Engineering team.
This role supports the design, development, procurement, and modification of overhead crane systems, elevators, hanger & roller doors at our Boeing East Region sites (Charleston, SC, Ridley Park, PA & Huntsville, AL). You will be located in North Charleston, South Carolina (with occasional travel to Philadelphia & Huntsville).
Individuals with a passion for safe & reliable facilities systems and equipment will excel in this role. You will collaborate with other skilled engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to maintain & improve our crane systems and develop long range plans to ensure system sustainability.
Up to 15% travel is required to Boeing sites in the East region as needed.
Position Responsibilities:
Provide engineering guidance in the design, development, procurement, modification, and maintenance of overhead crane and hoisting systems
Partner and collaborate closely with other engineering, maintenance, operations, and project management teams
Develop conceptual designs, rough cost estimates, and preliminary project schedules to meet the needs of customers, engineering partners, facility standards, outside consultants, and regulatory/government agencies
Review, approve, and verify crane mechanical system designs & installs to ensure compliance with requirements & regulations
Support accuracy of system documentation and drawing libraries through internal and external projects
Create CAD drawings and documentation aligned to facility standards; review contractor control drawing redline submittals after construction is complete; verify redlines are incorporated into as-built drawings
Provide input to strategic, short term, and long-term infrastructure planning, continuously recommending improvements
Work with both internal & external partners to identify and assess alternatives and impacts; use proactive, forward-thinking approaches to daily work
Determine causes of asset failures or reduction of capability using reliability tools & methods (e.g., lifecycle analysis, condition-based maintenance, mean time between failures, fault tree analysis, etc.)
Demonstrate daily commitment to safety and operational excellence
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering (mechanical or structural preferred)
3+ years of engineering experience
3+ years of experience supporting the maintenance of crane systems (i.e.; mechanical cranes and hoists systems including cables, chain sheaves and hooks)
Ability to perform work at heights up to 50 feet above ground level with appropriate safety gear
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
5+ years ofhigher education and/or related work experience
Experience in safety processes related to crane systems
Familiarity with Crane Manufactures Association of America (CMAA) Specifications
Experience applying Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) or similar processes to engineering development & manufacturing efforts
Experience working with industrial automation systems for cranes
Experience using Autodesk AutoCAD

Level 3 Mid-Level Summary pay range: $96,050 - $129,000
Level 4 Senior Level Summary pay range: $112,200 - $151,000
