Job Description
Telemundo Chicago (WSNS-TV) is seeking a News Assignment Editor. The successful candidate will assist in the efficient operation of the assignment desk.
- Monitor news sources, scanners, digital media to stay informed and develop news stories and ideas
- Make calls to gather information and book some interviews
- Develop, organize and maintain plan for news stories and future planning
- Provide assistance to reporters and producers in gathering story elements and contacts
- Dispatch field crews and assist them with needed elements throughout the day
- Gather information from various sources and cut videos to provide to producers and reporters
- Generate ideas and contribute content to digital platforms
Qualifications
Eligibility Requirements:
- Fluency in Spanish and English, with exceptional written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
- BS/BA degree in Broadcasting, Journalism or related field
- Minimum 2 years of experience working on a television News Assignment Desk or related position
- Previous work experience requiring excellent organizational skills
- Must work well under pressure and react quickly on tight deadlines
- Experience providing content contributions for digital platforms
- This position is a NABET union-represented job. Hired candidate will be required to join the NABET union upon employment if not already a member

Additional Requirements:
Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.
Salary Range: $36,000 - $67,000 (based on experience)
