Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Manager, BDS Air Proprietary 1 System Safety Team to lead the Air Dominance Air Proprietary 1 (AP1) System Safety Team.
This role reports to the office of the Program Chief Engineer and is the focal for all safety related activities.This position is set to join the team in Berkeley, MO or Hazelwood, MO.
This role will be responsible for leading the system safety efforts throughout the lifecycle of the program, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and standards, and promoting a culture of safety within the organization.The successful candidate will provide mentoring and coaching to all levels of engineers providing knowledge transfer to aid in growing our next generation of leaders and engineers. Management responsibilities include managing resources for the daily engineering assignments, including Earned Value Management (EVM). This position will work closely with government and program leadership, serving as a key interface between the program and its regulatory authorities.
Position Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain the System Safety and Software Safety Program Plan for the Air Proprietary 1 Program.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and quality assurance, to ensure safety considerations are integrated into all phases of the program.
- Foster a culture of transparency, collaboration, and inclusion within the team.
- Establish strong relationships with program customers and stakeholders
- Managing resources, processes, tools, program support and program participation in a manner that supports successful program and BDS execution.
- Lead a diverse Systems Safety and Software Safety team that provides technical expertise and program execution.
- Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.
- Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes.
- Leads team working to test and validate to ensure system safety designs meet operational and functional requirements.
- Provide support to program and division Safety Review activities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
- Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes related to system safety.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and methodologies (e.g., MIL-STD-882, ARP4761).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience executing a Software Safety program.
- Demonstrated experience leading through influence and partnering with cross-functional teams on projects and initiatives.
- Proven experience in conducting safety assessments and hazard analyses.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary pay range $155,550 - $210,450
