Description:This position is a hands-on hardware-focused engineering Intern located within the Chemical Analysis Lab. The overall primary job responsibility is the chemical evaluation of aerospace-grade materials, prototype parts and assemblies, and production parts and assemblies in support of internal customers for research and development projects and contracted programs. Requested tasks are verified and evaluated with the test requester and scheduled in an environment where there are often competing and conflicting needs to be resolved. When necessary to conduct the request, new testing methods are evaluated and standard processes developed with the assistance of senior staff. The test results are reported, reviewed as required with the supervisor or manager, and then communicated to the customer. As part of the task the ability to coordinate and team with other groups will be required. The position reports to Materials Science Labs Group Manager.
Basic Qualifications:• Pursuing an engineering/science degree.
• Capable of working with experienced colleagues developing and documenting new standard laboratory processes, as well as interpreting and executing analytical tests according to ASTM specifications.
• Very proficient in computing within a Windows-based MS Office-suite centered environment for communication, scheduling, data processing, basic data transfer, and project documentation.
• Sound writing and verbal communication skills.
Desired Skills:• Pursuing a Materials Engineering or Chemical Engineering Degree
• Experience with the TA-brand of thermal analysis equipment.
• Excellent detail-oriented analysis and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of Chemistry and Analytical Instrumentation such as XRF, FTIR, Microscopy

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
