The Multi-domain Solutions Division (MDS) within the Leidos National Security Sector is seeking a skilled Computer Operator II to join a new cyber security program and play a key role in supporting government-critical systems. You will be part of a program that oversees development, integration, delivery, and operations and maintenance of IT managed security services, which encompasses support to monitor the cybersecurity threat and security posture situational awareness for the enterprise. This opportunity is in anticipation of a future contract award!
What you’ll be doing:
- Monitor, maintain, and secure critical IT systems and infrastructure within a classified environment.
- Ensure the smooth operation of systems, executing batch processes, responding to security alerts, and maintaining compliance with stringent government regulations.
- Apply strong background in IT operations, system monitoring, and cybersecurity principles, along with the ability to work under pressure in a high-stakes, mission-critical environment.
- Monitor system consoles and network activity for unusual patterns or potential security threats.
- Respond to basic system alerts, performance issues, and error messages.
- Notify senior operators or system administrators of critical system anomalies.
- Execute scheduled batch jobs and system processes as directed.
- Verify the successful completion of batch jobs and report any errors or inconsistencies.
- Restart failed processes following standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Assist with user account creation, password resets, and access management for classified systems.
- Respond to basic user support requests and escalate complex technical issues as needed.
- Enforce security protocols, including Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and password policies.
- Assist with initiating and monitoring backup procedures for classified data.
- Verify backup success and report any discrepancies to senior operators.
- Support routine data integrity checks and assist in performing restoration tests.
- Support the application of system updates, patches, and security configurations.
- Conduct basic system health checks and ensure compliance with security baselines.
- Assist with hardware or software replacements under supervision.
- Maintain detailed records of system activity, including job logs, errors, and corrective actions.
- Update and review system documentation to reflect changes in processes or procedures.
- Assist with generating reports on system performance and incident response.
- Assist in identifying and documenting security incidents or potential threats.
- Follow established protocols to escalate incidents to senior cybersecurity personnel.
- Participate in incident response exercises to enhance skills and readiness.
What does Leidos need from me?
- Active Top Secret/SCI (TS/SCI) with Polygraph security clearance required. Must be U.S. Citizen.
- Bachelor's degree and 4 to 8 years of prior relevant experience or Master's with 2 to 6 years of prior relevant experience. Experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Basic knowledge of Windows, Linux, or UNIX operating systems.
- Ability to run system commands, manage processes, and troubleshoot errors.
- Understanding of batch job scheduling and monitoring.
- Experience with job control languages (JCL), if applicable.
- Familiarity with backup procedures and data recovery methods.
- Ability to verify backup integrity and manage storage media.
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware, printers, and peripheral devices.
- Ability to troubleshoot and replace hardware components as needed.
- Basic understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP), connectivity, and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with remote access tools and VPNs.
- Ability to monitor system activity and identify errors or inconsistencies.
- Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot system and application issues.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload effectively.
- Clear verbal and written communication to document procedures and escalate issues.
- Ability to work as part of an IT team and follow established protocols.
- 1 to 2 years of experience in computer operations, IT support, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with system monitoring tools and batch processing.
Favorable if you have:
- Familiarity with data center operations and environment monitoring.
- Knowledge of ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) processes.
- Experience with enterprise-level applications and databases.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $72,150.00 - $130,425.00
The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
