JOB DESCRIPTION

Title:

DG BOSS: Registered Surveyor

Performs exact measurements and determines property boundaries. Provides data relevant to the shape, contour, gravitation, location, elevation, or dimension of land or land features on or near the earth's surface for engineering, mapmaking, land evaluation, construction, and other purposes. Determines longitudes and latitudes of key features and boundaries in survey areas, using theodolites, transits, levels, and/or satellite-based global positioning systems (GPS). Determines vertical control of survey points using automatic levels, dumpy levels, and/or hand levels. Computes geodetic measurements and interprets survey data to determine positions, shapes, and elevations of geomorphic and topographic features. Trains assistants and helpers and direct their work in such activities as performing surveys or drafting maps. Writes descriptions of property boundary surveys for use in deeds, leases, or other legal documents. Manages the monuments and base marker survey benchmark points and any related sketches, maps, reports, and legal descriptions of surveys to describe, certify, and assume liability for work performed.

  • Performs surveying to accurately reflect existing conditions.
  • Prepares charts, maps, and area surveys and collects field data to incorporate into location maps and records.
  • Sets control points, grade stakes, locates underground utilities and other appurtenances and performs hydrographic mapping.
  • Manages monument inventory and provides replacements when damaged to include latitude, longitude, and elevation information in maps and area surveys as required by the Government.
  • Provides charts, maps, area surveys, and other surveying information within 2 weeks of Government request.
  • Surveys performed in direct support of design or non-recurring projects shall adhere to the performance objectives and standards as this spec item but shall not be included in the quantity of this spec item.
  • Measures large areas of the Earth's surface using satellite observations, global navigation satellite systems (GNSS), light detection and ranging (LIDAR), or related sources.
  • Determines longitudes and latitudes of key features and boundaries in survey areas, using theodolites, transits, levels, and satellite-based global positioning systems (GPS).
  • Determines vertical control of survey points using automatic levels, dumpy levels, and/or hand levels.
  • Computes geodetic measurements and interprets survey data to determine positions, shapes, and elevations of geomorphic and topographic features.
  • Responsible for management and supervision of other surveyors in this Section and acts as the Party Chief for a 2-man or 3-man Survey Crew and directs their work in such activities as performing surveys or drafting maps.
  • Performs budget estimates, survey data analysis, and written reports to manage both the contract firm-fixed price performance and indefinite quantity requirements of the Base Operating Support (BOS) Contract regarding work performed in this Section.
  • Analyzes control or survey data to ensure adherence to Project Specifications or Land Survey Standards.
  • Maintains databases of geodetic and related information including coordinate, descriptive, or quality assurance data.
  • Responsible for the precise execution of Company time reporting procedures and accurate completion of

  • Computes horizontal and vertical coordinates of control networks, using direct leveling or other geodetic survey techniques such as triangulation, trilateration, and traversing to establish features of the earth's surface.
  • Computes, retraces, or adjusts existing surveys of features such as highway/roadway alignments, property boundaries, utilities, control, and other surveys to match the ground elevation-dependent grids, geodetic grids, or property boundaries and to ensure accuracy and continuity of data used in engineering, surveying, or construction projects.
  • Determines the orientation of tracts of land, including position, boundaries, size, and shape, using theodolites, electronic distance-measuring equipment, satellite-based positioning equipment, land information systems, or other geodetic survey equipment.
  • Reviews existing standards, controls, or equipment used, recommending changes or upgrades as needed.
  • Performs other work-related duties and responsibilities as assigned to meet organizational/operational objectives.

Basic Qualifications

  • Ability to use surveying and mapping equipment (graduated rods, transits, levels, theodolites, fathometers, electronic distance meters, global positioning systems, etc.)
  • Must have good oral and written communication skills to effectively liaise with clients, other departments within the organization, subcontractors, and clients, and report directly to the Senior Management.
  • Must possess administrative, organizational, and computer skills to include proficiency with Microsoft Office suite including MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Proven ability to organize, prioritize, and follow through to completion of multiple tasks, under strict deadlines and changing priorities.
  • Must be detail-oriented and have good project management skills.
  • Must pass overseas medical screening and be in good health.
  • Must possess existing Driver’s License in Country of Origin; must be capable of obtaining KBR Motor Vehicle (MV)
  • Driver’s License in Diego Garcia. At minimum, must be wholly proficient in operation of MV manual transmission.
  • Material & Equipment Directly Used: May be exposed to potentially hazardous conditions that require the wear of hard hats, gloves, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, safety glasses, and other personal protection equipment (PPE); may be required to push, pull, and lift heavy equipment. Use of portable or vehicle-equipped radios to maintain contact and accountability of work activities. Tools associated with facilities management, construction, repair, and maintenance.
  • Working Environment: Work will be indoors and outdoors. Exposure to heat, cold, dust, and noise may occur. Employees must comply with all Federal, State, and Local regulations and published Company work rules as well as written instructions. Task-specific work environment training will be provided as required.
  • Physical Activities: Physical requirements include lifting to 35 lbs., team lifting to 50 lbs., climbing, extended sitting, or standing, stooping, stretching, and bending.

Preferred Qualifications

JOB SPECIFICATIONS: SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS OR TRAINING

  • Must have a current Licensed Land Surveyor (L.S.) or Licensed Geodetic Engineer by the Government of Nationality.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Geodetic Engineering from an Accredited University or College based on a four-year course of study is required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have at least 5 years of hands-on field surveying and mapping experience.
  • Must have construction survey and staking experience for all types of building and public works projects.
  • Must have GIS, GPS, and CAD/CAM drafting experience.
