Who we’re looking for
Toyota’s Unit Engineering Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Engineer to support production/engineering operations in the Paint Shop.
This role's main responsibility is to support all aspects of assembly engineering, ensuring hoshin activity is implemented to achieve KPIs for safety, quality, cost, productivity, and human resource development.
Ownership that Unit is a Tier 1 supplier ensuring no defects are shipped to customer plants.
Consistent focus on continuous improvement in the processes to achieve KPI results.
Commitment to 3-pillar production methods: Standardized Work, Process Point Management, & Ownership Maintenance.
Commitment to establishing, maintaining, and improving 4S+S in the Unit plant, and in personal work areas.
Openness and enthusiasm for digitalization (DX) efforts to establish Unit as a digital factory.
Strong dedication to environmental impact reduction activities.
This position is based in San Antonio, TX. The selected candidate will be expected to reside within commutable distance of this location.
What you’ll be doing
Ensure axle housing meets drawing specifications.
Managing all engineering aspects of the small parts e-coat system including necessary conditions set points, lab, and vendor communication.
Assist in setup of plant/shop facilities in Unit-Paint shop from the initial construction to operational readiness.
Lead tracking, communication, and support of engineering changes affecting unit paint shop.
Engage in 3-pillar production methods: Standardized Work, Process Point Management, & Ownership Maintenance.
Utilizing lineside troubleshooting tools to lead and manage engineering impact items effectively.
Engaging with team members (TMs) to cultivate trust-based relationships and foster a collaborative work environment.
Leading and supporting process improvement initiatives to enhance workflow and productivity.
Maintaining a strong presence on the shop floor to stay informed of issues and developments.
Managing and overseeing multiple engineering tasks and projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and successful completion.
Assisting in the creation of presentations and analyses as required for clear and effective communication.
Maintaining and improving processes and systems for raw material quality, contributing to continuous improvement and overall material management.
Assisting production and maintenance groups in resolving both technical and non-technical issues, ensuring smooth operations.
Collaborating with quality departments and other production shops to improve internal quality and process ergonomics.
Developing strategies and action plans to achieve Hoshin targets, aligning with organizational objectives.
Resolving field issues and developing countermeasures.
What you bring
Engineering bachelor’s degree or 5+ Years of equivalent work experience.
2 years minimum of Paint Engineering Experience or Heavy Manufacturing experience.
3 years minimum experience of utilizing Microsoft office applications.
3years minimum of Production Tool and Equipment Mechanical Design or specification Experience.
2 Years minimum or working knowledge of maintenance or engineering systems.
1 Year minimum of Project Management experience.
This position requires driving. A motor vehicle record that’s acceptable by company standards is required for this position
Added bonus if you have
2 years or working knowledge of Toyota enterprise software systems (example: SAP, ARS, Cimplicity, Maximo, Etc.)
TBP Panel Completion
High/Low viscosity material management experience.
PTED and/or small parts E-Coat experience.
Familiarity with Engineering software (AutoCad, Inventor, Catia, XVL etc.)
Active Toyota DE account
Plant launch and/or new model launch experience.
Cross-functional understanding of automotive manufacturing a plus.
FMEA/PFMEA experience.
FMDS experience.
