What does a successful Payroll Tax Manager do at Fiserv?
Fiserv is seeking an experienced, highly engaged, improvement-oriented Payroll Tax Manager to manage our payroll taxes for US and Canada. You will be a subject matter expert and possess a strong understanding of Federal, Multi-State, Local, and Provincial tax regulations. The role will be responsible for managing payroll tax activities, resolving tax-related issues, and staying current with changes in tax laws. You will work with auditors, providing the requested tax information and able to answer any questions as it relates to tax withholding. This role will require the ability to create and uphold strong partnerships with HR Technology, Payroll Accounting, Center of Excellence teams, Payroll Manager and direct reports.
What you will do:
- In partnership with our Payroll Tax Vendor, you will be responsible for managing federal and multi-state compliance and managing appropriate deadlines to ensure 100% accuracy and timeliness.
- Payroll Responsibilities and general ledger ownership
- Manage and is accountable for on-time execution of tax responsibilities, including project deliverables
- Partner with Corporate Tax and other departments to obtain required data to supply to partners related to state incentive initiatives
- Perform regular tax research to stay ahead of state and federal tax changes and properly train payroll specialists on changes to data entry
- Monitor internal company processes and provide recommendation to increased speed, accuracy, and efficiency
- Perform daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly tax processes to ensure tax compliance, to include amendment filing, W-2 Errors, Negative Wages, etc.
- Research and resolve all tax notices with proper partnership with our tax vendor as well as communication to agencies, clients, and internal stakeholders.
- Close/Open/Maintain tax set up with Federal/State/Local tax authorities
- Keep Payroll system up to date with tax rates, new tax setups, and other duties as assigned
- Partner with Equity team on processing, reporting, improvements, corrections
What you will need to have:
- 6+ years’ experience in Payroll Tax, Accounting, or Related Discipline
- Multi-state payroll processing experience
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, work, and/or military experience
What would be great to have:
- Prior Payroll Canada experience
- Workday experience in payroll
- Experience with OneSource Virtual
- Experience working with 3rd party tax vendor
