The Boeing Company is hiring Associate, Mid-Level, or Senior Level Aero-Performance, Aerodynamics Engineers into our Configuration Aerodynamics SoCal team in Long Beach, California.
The Configuration Aerodynamics SoCal team is part of the Airplane Characteristics group within the larger Flight Sciences organization. Flight Sciences provides design and analysis support for all development and in-production aircraft within Boeing Commercial Airplanes.
The entire airplane life cycle from product development to certification, production and fleet support is supported by the Configuration Aerodynamics SoCal team. Evaluations by the team ensure airplanes satisfy design, certification, and continued airworthiness requirements for all phases of flight including takeoff, climb, cruise, descent and landing.
As an Aerodynamics Engineer, you will perform analysis to support both airplanes in development and service. You will evaluate from an airplane-level perspective of vehicle performance characteristics to meet our customers’ overall mission performance requirements. Flight Engineering skills cover the entire product life cycle from initial vehicle concept definition, through design, test, validation and in-service support. The primary Flight Engineering skills include aerodynamics, propulsion, loads, aeroelasticity, weights, acoustics and configuration integration. You will influence the development of the airplane, verifying capabilities during the flight test program, and/or supporting our airline customers who operate our airplanes. You will have opportunities to interface directly with other disciplines and the Flight Test community, expanding your network and sphere of influence. You will utilize a variety of computational tools and techniques to reach solutions to complex problems with competing requirements. You develop and use high fidelity steady-state and dynamic simulation models to analyze extreme flight conditions. You’ll be an integral part of ensuring the safety, performance and efficiency of current and future Boeing Commercial Airplane products.
Position Responsibilities:
- Calculates and presents airplane performance for new and derivative Boeing and competitor aircraft models to support product development, sales campaigns, and airline operations while ensuring compliance with appropriate regulatory requirements and airline operational rules.
- Assists in certifying aircraft and establishing performance levels.
- Conducts multi-disciplinary trade studies and define market requirements to support development of new models.
- Supports airline fleet operations by answering airline queries and providing airplane on ground support.
- Develops new and improve existing tools to accomplish the above tasks.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
- 2+ years relevant work experience
- Experience working with aerospace engineering principles
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
- Experience in aircraft performance analysis
- Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations as they pertain to aircraft performance
- Experience leading projects or teams
- Experience working in cross-functional teams
- Strong communication skills (verbal & written)

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary pay range for Associate level (Level 2): $81,600 - $110,400
Summary pay range for Mid-Level (Level 3): $100,300 - $135,700
Summary pay range for Senior Level (Level 4): $121,550 - $164,450
