What does this role look like?
This Director role is for the
Deputy to the MSAC Vice President of the newly integrated GSA/GC3 Mission Strategy and Advanced Capabilities Deputy (MSAC) Organization (Global Situational Awareness/Global Command, Control and Communications).
As the MSAC Deputy, you will partner with the MSAC VP to lead Strategy Development, Technology Development and New Business Capture for Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community (IC) missions. This position is aligned to the National Security Space (NSS) Line of Business (LOB), supporting all five NSS Mission Segments.
In this role will offer you the following daily key responsibilities:
- This position integrates both an internal and external set of leadership responsibilities.
- In the external role, this leader partners with the MSAC VP to mature and approve the mission based strategies to replenish $6-7B/year of sales, coaching and overseeing the capture plans across a team of approximately 8-10 Directors.
- This includes successful technology development of Government CRAD and LM IRAD to position LM for best value mission focused solutions.
- In the internal role, the Deputy is the designated leader for the MSAC financial team that oversees CRAD and IRAD performance, the External Engagement Team, overseeing all internal and external senior level visits, and the interface to LM Space and Corporate Strategy and Business Development.
- As the empowered Deputy to the MSAC VP, this role requires a high level of executive presence, senior leader communication skills and the ability to guide high impact decision making based on based on data and a disciplined approach to strategy.
- The chosen leader must be able to demonstrate all facets of Full Spectrum Leadership under stressing conditions, drive process and financial discipline, enforce leader accountability across the MSAC director team, and be a trusted partner to the MSAC VP, acting routinely in their place with other internal and external senior leadership.
Basic Qualifications:To be effective, you will need to possess these basic qualifications: • 15+ years of experience in new business captures and/or system acquisition, development and operations of DoD or Commercial aerospace systems.
• Demonstrated experience managing or working within a complex capture organization.
• Demonstrated strategic mindset with the ability to chart clear growth paths for complex organizations with a disparate stakeholder group.
• Demonstrated experience leading growth of business including directing resources, and leading capture of new business.
• You will need to be a US Citizen, and
currently possess and be able to maintain a US DoD TOP SECRET/SCI clearance, to support this government contract, as well as successfully pass a drug and background check, in order to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Desired Skills:To be effective, ideally, you should also have:• Executive presence and engagement including management of executives or senior managers
• Leading the execution of capture strategies for emerging and existing programs based on a foundation of mission engineering and technology maturation.
• Assessment of new opportunities and markets, assisting in the disposition of opportunities based on LM Space strategy and probability of win.
• Familiarity with customer community both domestically and abroad, to span a variety of communication systems, including understanding of key customer priorities & limitations (e.g., budget, policy) that drive the community toward constrained solutions
• Oversight of budgets with emphasis on prioritization of spending based on strategic alignment
• Demonstrated Cross organization collaboration with demonstrated new business results. Experience leading leaders in complex environments
• Coaching and mentoring of next generation leaders
• Experience with FVEY and International captures a plus.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $195,000 - $310,500. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
