Spectrolab, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company’s Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business unit has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Tool & Fixture Specialist to join our dynamic team in Sylmar, California.
Spectrolab is the world’s leading merchant supplier of the highest efficiency multijunction solar cells for spacecraft power systems, with proven reliability drawn from 65 years of space heritage. Spectrolab’s state-of-the-art space solar cells and panels power satellites in Earth’s orbit, as well as the International Space Station.
Position Responsibilities:
- Performs routine tool set up activities
- Makes minor repairs
- Performs manufacture, assembly and fabrication of tools
- Operates various factory support equipment to move materials and tools as required
- Provides tooling support to other organizations
- Assists in determining fabrication and assembly processes for the design
- Assists in reverse engineering design and fabrication processes for parts
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This position is for 1st shift however, candidates must be willing to work any shift, weekends, and overtime as required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Basic computer experience and competency
- Experience using hand tools and/or hand-held power tools
- Ability to stand and walk throughout work shift (6+ hours) as well as carry and lift up to 25 pounds
- Experience in packing.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Minimum of High School Diploma or GED
- Experience reading and understanding engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications
- Experience in processes, geometric dimensioning & tolerances, and machining capabilities of different types of materials
- Experience working with close tolerances .0001”
Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through basic education (e.g. High School diploma/GED) and typically 1 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. vocational school/Associate).
Relocation:

Travel:
Position may require travel up to 5% of the time.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary pay range: $52,700 - $71,300
