The Boeing Company is looking for a Software Engineering Manager to join our Space Mission Systems (SMS) Denali team in Herndon, VA. This manager will help lead a 40-person team, including ~15 direct reports, providing software engineering management functions for the design, development, and maintenance of complex, multi-tiered application software systems used to support the command and control of space vehicles. This manager will work day to day with software, system, and Test Engineers in order to successfully lead software projects to implement, test, and document new features and improvements for both web services and applications supporting distributed computing solutions.

Position Responsibilities:
Manage staffing needs and grow the skills/capabilities of the organization
Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders and partners, provide oversight of technical approaches, products and processes
Must have the ability to solve complex problems and the ability to work multiple tasks simultaneously, and must be familiar with managing development projects and industry equivalent practices
Experience supporting New Business Campaigns and have the technical ability to work with the engineering community
Forecast, obtain, and manage personnel to meet project and organizational requirements; acquire, deploy and schedule personnel to meet organizational objectives
Determines critical skills within an organization or functional area; develops and implements staffing plans to ensure necessary skills are available within the company
Develops and motivates employees
Position will need Special Program Access prior to start
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Herndon, VA.
Required Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
• 3+ years of experience managing and/or leading a team either formally or informally, with the ability to provide guidance, mentorship, and support to team members
• 1+ years of experience leading projects and/or individuals in software development lifecycle tasks
• 1+ years of experience with modern software development methodologies
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
• Experience with space-based technologies including knowledge of system interactions and standards
• SAFe Agile certifications including SPC, Scrum Master, Release Train Engineer, etcExperience with satellite ground mission capabilities
• Experience at successfully managing and being part of a complex IPT to produce results within budget, on schedule, and to performance requirements
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming skills and/or software
project execution

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary Pay Range: $141,950 - $192,050
