Job Summary
The Director of Finance is responsible for managing activities to ensure financial stability, performance transparency and execution of directives. The role is a Senior Leadership position with influence on steering and advancing the organization through partnerships across all departments and levels. The Director will lead a team of analysts to manage the organization’s financial needs and implement tactical strategies for supporting cost reductions, margin expansion and cash generation/stability.
Core Responsibilities for all jobs at this level
- Manage month end close financial process with focus on revenue and cost reconciliation including percent complete accounting
- Forecast financials with development and maintenance of financial models to project labor, material, and other direct costs by revenue account
- Prepare financial reports for senior leaders including profitability analysis on segment and customer performance and underlying detail on operating expenses
- Cash flow management with collection/disbursement tracking and projections to monitor liquidity
- Support operations with financial oversight on revenue prospects, labor efficiency and material purchasing/planning
- Manage and monitor financial reporting systems ensuring financials are appropriately updated and adjusted as needed
Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following:
- Ensure calculation of revenue and margin adheres to accounting policies and aligns with project budgets/customer change orders. Tracking of historical cost variances and cost projections to ensure conformity with percent complete accounting
- Partner with accounting to ensure accuracy of reported financials including general ledger adjustments and ERP monitoring to verify costs are mapped to the correct accounts and time periods
- Maintain financial and operational forecast models updating project specific labor and material inputs and projections in partnership with schedulers, manufacturing and assembly leads, and supply chain
- Update and maintain 13-week cash flow model ensuring accuracy on bank cash receipts and disbursements, in addition to reforecasting of projected customer receivables, trade payments through accounts payable and purchase order tracking, as well as facility/labor related disbursements
- Develop and lead annual budget process supporting senior leadership with revenue and gross margin targets in addition to assisting department leads with operating expense planning and monitoring
- Support accounting with external audit review including but not limited to documents and registers for revenue reconciliation, labor tickets, work orders, material invoices and project budgets with customer change orders
- Manage customer and regulatory review process for Defense contractor audits, taking lead position on financial items including historical performance records and long-term projections
- Assist Sales team in financial analysis of prospective contract pursuits, challenging cost assumptions, mapping labor demand needs to expected capacity plans and ensuring cash related items are managed appropriately to mitigate working capital volatility
- Lead tactical initiatives on margin improvement, cash generation and cost rationalization with development and maintenance of reporting tools and KPIs to assess and drive financial strategies
- Support organizational led restructuring initiatives being accountable for all financial related items.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises employees in the Finance department. Fulfills Supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, selecting, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems. For Exempt Managers: Managers that fulfill these responsibilities for two or more employees will have significant input in hiring and termination decisions.

Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) from four-year college or university and 10 or more years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in finance
- Master’s Degree preferred

Minimum pay
USD $180,000.00/Yr.
Maximum Pay
USD $220,000.00/Yr.
