What does a successful Middleware Engineer do at Fiserv?
You will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining middleware software applications to enable seamless communication between different systems and applications, ensuring high availability and performance. You will also support the patching, validation, and health of the applications associated within the business unit.
What you will do:
- Exhibit strong troubleshooting skills and lead the path to root cause identification and make recommendations for long-term resolution of problems across multiple platforms
- Support the patching, validation, and health of the applications
- Lead complex initiatives and issues within an application platform involving multiple cross-functional teams
- Work across application platforms and influence improvements elated to performance, architecture, design and resiliency
- Recommend strategies for process and monitoring improvement
- Perform deep dive code reviews and provide feedback to enhance the quality of application code artifacts
What you will need to have:
- 5+ years of experience as application production support Engineer in a 24x7 uptime environment, including automation experience with configuration management tools and scripting languages such as shell, python, and perl
- 5+ years of administration experience with multiple technologies but not limited to Pivotal cloud Foundry (PCF), Asure, WebSphere Products, Apache, Tomcat, IBM Http server, MQ and IBM DataPower
- 5+ years of experience with SQL, DB2, and Oracle databases
- 5+ years of experience with various operating systems such as RedHat Linux, Windows, AIX
- 3+ years of experience with Java development (Java/Struts, Spring Framework, JS Technologies)
- 3+ years of experience with implementing micro-services architecture and build/deploy automated, scalable, and maintainable infrastructure
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education, work, and/or military experience
What would be great to have:
- Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with different stakeholders with a customer service approach to support
- Prior experience with DevOps and containerization tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Git, Maven, Eclipse, JIRA, and Confluence
- Experience with log parsing technologies and tools such as Splunk, Elk, Dynatrace
- Prior experience network topologies and cloud technology concepts/topologies
